Broke one of the bolts that tighten FSTB, is it a big deal?

I over torque one of the stupid nuts when i was installing the fstb. One side is helding by three bolts as it suppose to, but on the driver side is with two. Do i have to worry about this? I mean, the purpose of the six nuts are purely for installing fstb correct? Does it has anything to do with the suppension under it?

Thanks.

Ahhhh okay.. If the 3 nuts are only to install the bar, then what were they doing before you got the bar? They SECURE the front struts to the car's unibody. I would say that is pretty important don't you think. And becuase you broke one of three, you have 1/3 less torque holding your struts to the car.

Take it to a shop and get it fixed ASAP. Don't try it yourself!

I don't know much about this, but I'm guessing that the studs are there also to hold the bar down to prevent flexing of the body during a turn. If you only have two of them tigtened there might be a chance of your bar breaking or the bar taking off the other two studs that are left.

ya you need to get that fixed, you can do it yourself if you know anything about changing springs or struts out. You'll need some metric sockets, a torque wrench, and a spring compressor. i believe the part is called the tophat, not sure though, it's a cheap part to replace but it's like at least 1.5 hours for the amatuer to do it. you basically could just change the struts for all the work this will take.

I actually laughed at that one. Seriously, get it fixed today, tomorrow, but DO NOT drive like this for long.

It will take around 200 ft/lbs to break one of those. He must been cranking on those with all his weight behind it.

You have to be pretty strong to break a stud like that.

i don't think it will take that much to break one of those. 200ft lbs is a lot and those aren't that big of a bolt. they are only supposed to be tq'ed to 38lbs. maybe 100 to break it.

Remember to take the FSTB off so that the dealer won't blame the mod and charge you lots of $$$ to fix it.
