New owner i have a couple of questions(pretty sure aren't answered in stickies)

First off I'm glad to finally get my max 98 white gle with 71k miles

The car was debadged when I bought it, How would I go about rebadging it? Where would I be able to get a trunk maxima badge? I checked ebay but they only have the burgers.

If I go over 40mph and roll down the windows, I can hear squeeling from my passenger side front wheel. (didn't catch this in the test drive). Also when I step on my brakes gently (I like to drive as smoothly as possible) There is a squeeling sound as well, but not when i press harder. Do you think my over 40mph is related to this problem or perhaps a cv joint issue? How much would it cost to get my brakes fixed?

I can't seem to figure out how to program the homelink. I put my opener on learn setting and was holding down the homelink button. I read somewhere that I have to press the homelink button down at two second intervals until it flashes is this true?

Sorry had to do this y-pipe questions! will an aluminized y-pipe be suitable for nj winters? how much does it cost to get it installed and for them to replace the flex pipe with triple ply?

Also should I get a front strut bar? Are the ebay ones any good? would they imrpove safety since they're supposed to increase rigidity?

Engine oil was changed, I plan on putting injector cleaning fluid in the tank, what else should I be doing? are there any more trouble spots i should be checking out?

You could go to the stealership or go to a junkyard and take them off with some fish line and then reapplying them with double sided tape.

A stainless steel y-pipe will withstand the NJ winters

They help and the ebay ones are just fine.

Give the belts a check and that's all I can recommend.

along with the belts, change the tranny fluid + fuel filter + spark plugs

Go with the SS Y-pipe.. you dont wanna get the aluminized one only to find out it rusts out on you after one winter.

Buy the badges from a dealer or from a parting out Maxima. Somewhere I have dimension for the emblems (distances from the emblems to other reference points on the trunk) which I wrote down before shaving my trunk. I can try to dig them up if you really need them.

Check your brake pads.

You might have a rolling code garage door opener. I just bought a new garage door opener and the instructions said that it wouldn't be compatible with 1999 and older HomeLinks. Well, my '99 came with a supplement for "rolling code" garage doors. However, it didn't work via the instructions. I forget what I did but I just had to try over and over again doing different things and I finally got all three buttons to work. I can't even tell you what I did. ?? Then I go to program my '96 (it has a '97 visor) and it worked first time via the normal instructions! I know I'm not helping much but my point is, don't give up. You can get it with some fiddling.

I think people fear too much about aluminum. I think an aluminum Y-pipe will outlast your ownership. Personally I'd rather have the cost savings and weight savings of an aluminum. However, I believe they are louder due to the material. My aluminum '96 Y is louder than my '99 SS.

Yes, get a FSTB. You won't notice anything but you'll sleep better at night. Any one will do since none of them do anything.

Unless you have ALL documentation showing recent services, assume the car is due for all preventative maintenance. Spark plugs, fuel filter, PCV valve, air filter, trans fluid and filter, oil/filter, rotate tires, WD-40 all locks/hinges, flush radiator, clean throttle body, etc.

Enjoy!

Check your garage door owners manuel. The homelink doesn't work with Sears Craftsman. (and I got that tidbit direct from the Craftsman dealer)

I have a rolling code door opener and I had to try a few things to make it work. Basically, the opener has its own program button, and I needed to park the under the opener (moonroof helped) so that I could have the Homelink learn while the opener was in program mode. Then it all worked. But I didn't find a procedure quite like that anywhere in any manuals - I either found it here or on alt.autos.nissan-maxima.
