pretty dissapointed

So I went to the track for me second time last night. My first time at the track, the best I could do was a 15.248 at 91.69 with a 2.498 60', with only a GAB. Now, over a month later, I have a warpspeed Y-pipe and frankencar intake. My first run was a 14.998 at 93.53 with a 2.244 60'. Following my first run I ran a mix of 15.4 a few times, 15.3 a few times, 15.2 once, 15.1 a few times and a 15.0 twice all at 93, except one of the 15.4 at 92. All of my 15.4 and 15.3's were with 2.4 60' and all my 15.2 was with 2.3, and ever my 15.1's were with a 2.4 60'. I never managed to get back into the 14's. I assumed that I would atleast be able to run a 14.8 a few times. I had my tire pressure to 25 psi, and took everything out of my trunk, including my spare. My first time at the track was fully loaded with even my system. anyone have some input, or is this normal and I just had high expectation? I'm a 2k 5spd, with 15" steelies.

Well it wasn't the car keeping out out of the 14.8s, it was how well you are launching it. 93mph traps you could see 14.6s possibly, 14.8s shouldn't be a problem for you with more practice.

thanks, I was really struggling with the launches. Everytime I was at or around 3k, it was spin really bad. When I was at 2.6 ish, it would spin a little. The first run, when I did the only 2.2, there was practically no spinning, I didn't even chirp 2nd, but I really wasn't paying attention to what I was launching at, I was distracted by the other driver who didn't know how to light up his side of the tree.

Oh I miss NYIRP...haven't been to another track yet...

Anyways, just take what Neal said and keep practicing. Also, make sure you're not heatsoaking...I know how easy it is to run back to back at that track. Just get off your run, and pop your hood for a few, and relax for a while before you run again.

Just keep working on the launch. That is where your problem is. Try to get down to a 2.1 60' consistently. With those traps you could hit 14.7 I'd think.

I think your VIAS is bad... my car with full trunk of junk, 100F track temps, 2.4 60' (I don't drag race) Ypipe, custom exhaust, Fidanza flywheel, UDP and PR CAI netted me 15.1@94MPH. Car felt fine, but *I* adjusted myself to the lack of top end and didn't notice it till I pulled the power rod out of the VIAS and it felt like VTEC or something kickin over at 5000RPM. I have zero doubt in my mind the car is capable of 13s (in its current state), but I am not going to try it.
