Intake Manifold Spacer

You think the VE would see decent gains from an intake manifold spacer like the 350's & G35's get? I do notice that after (ANY) type of driving, the intake manifold will be extremely heat soaked. The reason being, is that it's right on top of the block. I don't know, any ideas? Maybe Matt93SE could come up with something, Like he did with his Throttle Body Spacer.

haven't I seen something on eBay like that? I'm not sure if it was for the VE.

You are definantly mistaken on this...They are exclusively custom...

well think that if the air is cooler what kind of gains are you going to get simply from that. also, you make the intake runners longer, this helps your low end. my bad it was actually aaron92se who had the IM spacer. i remember seeing it on his list of mods site

Where do you see that? I was looking on Blehmco.com and don't see it. Is there another website? And is there one for the VG?

I have some throttle body spacers made for the VE, but haven't put them on my site yet. too lazy to get it updated.

Well I'm not neccessarly saying you'll get more power, just less heat soak. That Iron Block loves to stay hot, and so the the manifold.

MY VG used to get a lot of heat soak, untill I traced all the little coolant lines...

I noticed thet there were two coolant lines running through my intake manafold. One was passing right through my dual trottle body, the other was passing under the rear manifold by the PCV(sp?) valve.

I took off both of them and routed them back into them selves, eliminating any HOT coolant passing through my INTAKE manifold.

I expereinced a much cooler manifold, even on warm weathered days, the rear of the manifold was cool; especially the throttle body area.

Could the VE have some of these MISC coolant lines on it's pretty little manifold?

Aaron used teflon to make a manifold spacer for his VE. The problem is that the EGR pipe then doesn't fit, so he just sealed it off on both ends. But for someone who cares about emissions, you'd have to modify the EGR tube so it can fit.

Yeah, I did use teflon from McMaster Carr. And I did have to block the EGR. I also couldn't use the support plates on the back of the upper IM anymore. It doesn't hurt anything as long as you don't lean on the IM.

Also, the upper IM on the VE has no coolant running through it at all. Only the throttle body does.

This issue has been discussed an aweful lot and I've gave reviews on almost all of them.

The spacer that the 350Z/G35 guys use is to add volume to the plenum to make more power, not to prevent heatsoak. Two different things.

But I think it's made from a material that reduces heat transfer from the lower to upper thus keeping the air cooler and denser inside for a few more ponies.

i think that if you put this spacer in, it helps your top end or your lower end, but then it makes the opposite worse....

Its more TQ.

Think of ITB's on most imports. They are really short compared to a normal intake, and they love high RPM, not low end. A spacer would make just a little more TQ in most cases. In the Z33/G35 it gives both because 2 cyinders aren't getting all the air they need.

I used 1/4" for both upper IM and TB. For the TB, you could easily do a 1" spacer if you lengthen the throttle cable harness plate.

Oh yeah, those are easy to come by. On the VE, you can take some bolts from the upper IM (which are much longer) and use them on the TB.

Or you can just visit the hardware store.
