Shampooing the Interior Carpet

Anybody ever try to take out the interior carpet of their 4th Gen Maxine and try to shampoo it with like a Rug Doctor??...It seems like i'm going to have to take apart my dashboard to do that...Anybody have any pictures of how to take apart their dash, OR remove and replace their interior carpet?...(its quite dirty with spilled soda and such everywhere from the previous owner)...Any help would be much appreciated...thanks

Try using a steamer like the Shark in addition to Blue Coral Rug Cleaner, and a big, stiff brush.

If you remove the seats and center console, and don't mind a 3" cut under the dash down the center the whole thing will come out in one piece. Use a stiff nylon brush and some oxy clean(granular). Scrub the hell out of the carpet use a shop vac to get most of the moisture out and let air dry. I promise you it will turn out awsome. I have tried many other methods of cleaning, but this by far is the best/cheapest way to clean an auto carpet I've found. Here's a link for more info http://www.team-integra.net/sections...ArticleID=1024 and yes this is an acura thread, but take a close look at the pics!

Yes. Removed it once and will be removing it a second time. It's not the hardest thing, but there is a fair amount of work involved. For puposes of cleaning. it's really not worth it. So long as you have kept your air filter changed regularly, there should be no reason to have to do it.

Also, I recommend a steam cleaner over shampooing. Some OxyClean in the mix works WONDERS. You can rent one fro HD for about $30 or so. Well worth it.

I have found that a bit of Spray Nine and water along with a ShopVac does the trick quite well and will not damage the colour in the carpet. I usually Scotch guard it after doing this. I worked in an auto detailing shop and we did this on most cars with nasty stains in the carpet.

My parents have a huge washing machine so I just throw my floor mats in there and it works better than any shampoo or stain remover i've ever used. Doesn't screw up the mats or the machine. The mats come out looking brand new. It even got out a few deep stains I had trouble getting out.

when you clean the carpets when there in the car, make sure you let it air out, put all the windows down, sunroof open and let it sit for awhile, vacuum out as much water as you can get, sometimes i use a old towel and just dab the carpet to get all the liquid out, if you dont let it air you your car will smell musty inside, its not very pleasent. oxyclean works wonders on stains, and doenst have any after smell, like some cleaners.

word i just got some Oxyclean too..i think when i move into my new house i am gonna tear the interior apart and give it an awesome cleaning .....do do vacuums and wipe downs every week which reallllly helps keep it nice...but there are those hard t get spots and just a feeling of a clean car is fabulous

I get a 4 Litre bottle at Candian Tire for a little under $20 (I imagine you would be able to get it at department stores such as Wal-Mart and Home Depot as well).

I got some stuff from lowes, high traffic carpet clearner, I soaked my interior with this stuff, and got a towel and scrubbed for like 30 mins than I got a regular garden hose on a low setting, sprayed everythign down while having the wet-dry vac on next to it to suck up the water.

I had about 25 gallons of water that was pitch black. Nasty, and now I have no smell of smoke(previous owner was a smoker). Car has no orders and everything in the car is much cleaner and brighter.

Make sure to soak up all the water and leave your windows a hair down to get the moisture out. DO NOT SPRAY NEAR THE DASHBOARD.

We used a Bissell Green Machine on my Acura before we sold it and it did an amazing job. It even got soda stains out of the seats that had been there for quite some time.
