Progress Tech Springs and Stock Shocks/Struts

Greetings All,
I just recently purchased the Progress tech springs for my 5.5 Gen. My question is how will the ride be if I use my factory shocks/struts and how long will they last? My car has 51K miles on the OD. Has anyone used the stocks?

Second question.
What shocks/struts would you recommend to use with the Progress Tech springs? I plan on putting 19's or 20's on as well.

Many thanks!
-Eric

Three responses and not a glimmer of help. "This is the high-tech pro full-race suspension forum. Take your wannabe suspension question to the Poser forum."
I don't have an answer for you either, but I would be just as interested to find out some info. It irks me the number of times I read threads like this here. "Wrong forum. We don't care." The Mods should determine if the question belongs here or somewhere else.

I wouldn't use the stock struts with Progress springs, mainly because they are not made to damper that sort of spring. Your ride quality will be poor (bouncy, because of underdampening) and like mentioned, you may blow your struts.

The only struts I would consider pairing up with the Progress springs are Tokico Illuminas, KYB AGXs, or Konis. Those will be able to dampen those springs well enough that you'll have a good experience with them in terms of ride, handling, and durability. I've had Progress springs with the Tokico HPs (supposed OEM replacements) and Illuminas, and can tell you that the Illuminas worked so much better than the HPs.

See this site for some good info:

As well as many of the links posted in the Stickies here.

I would also agree that this is a pretty basic 5th Gen specific question, and should therefore belong in the 5th Gen forum, not in the Advanced Handling forum, especially if you're putting on 19/20 inch wheels. .

Lowering springs are meant to be used with an aftermarket strut. The stock ones will eventually go. Just take the dive and get an aftermarket strut.
