Fitting the 93/94 srs airbag wheel onto a 91 max?

Wondering if the srs wheel itself would bolt on without any mods involved? of course the airbag / srs system itself couldnt possibly work (without thousands of dollars spent)

But for the sake of more modern interior looks, is it doable? the srs airbag wheel from a 93/94 max would be obtained from a wreckers.

Reason being is that i've just bought a Maxima for mother dearest and unfortunately the steering wheel's been subject to too many hot sunny days and all the rubber around the outside has perished, and we both think the wheel itself looks fugly as anyway (its the triangular shaped one without any seperate horn buttons).

If an SRS wheel cant be bolted on, then i'll still try and find that other non-srs one with the seperate horn buttons, it looks a bit more modern with the squarish chunky centrepiece.

On a similar note, would any of you happen to know of any guides floating around on the web which explain how to remove / attach the steering wheel on these cars?

Cheers folks!

you have the GXE wheel. Personally I'd just swap in the SE wheel or a 240 if you can find one.
1 bolt and the wheel comes off (after you remove some other crap)

I was at the junkyard the other day, and those early 240sx steeing wheels look pretty cool...too bad the leather on all of them was eaten up...

It should fit. But once you get the airbag stuff out (with special safety torx bits) you will now have a huge hole where the airbag used to be.

I'd follow the other's advice and look for another non-airbagged wheel. Once you get the big nut off, you can tug or hit up on each side of the wheel until it wiggles loose. You can try two hands on each side and yanking but you most likely will end up punching yourself in the face. hehe

I recommend using a 240sx or (90+) 300zx steering wheel if you don't like the stock one. The Z wheel is most likely to have the cruise buttons, so you don't lose that feature.

I have a 240sx wheel in mine and it works fine. I think I paid around $20 for it on ebay.
