ouch.....hopefully, you just fried your clutch. How high did the revs go up? emax95 did the exact same thing a little while back and he came out with only a messed up clutch. You could possibly damage the valves if the engine revs that high. That would be major. But, hopefully your clutch just went bad.....good luck man, and keep us posted...

no...not at all. Only in extreme cases can you possibly cause major engine damage. The engine can probably revved until just past redline with no problems at all. But at way past redline, the engine is put under a lot of stress and things can get damaged.

update from the dealership ,the timeing chain broke and a couple of valves are bent ,they are going to check to see if i voided the warrenty with my mods but since they have to prove that the mods caused the problem hopefully they'll just fix it under warrenty,if not i wonder if a pathfinder engine swap is possible

Thats sucks!

I went into 2nd with my I30 at about 90 MPH, this was acompinied by my SC pumping out about 8 PSI! Luckly for me my Sucky Centerforce Clutch just snaped and it saved my engine and tranny. Good Luck.

An engine can rev up to its potential and then it is left up to the parts contained within to determine if the parts can sustain the stress: stock parts can tolerate only so much. After that, if you don't have hi-po parts, you're going to damage something. The Honda folks can upgrade internals to sustain the high RPMs, but Maxima's are limited to the availabity of true hi-po parts to accomplish the same.

A prime example would be a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carolo versus a 2000 Chevrolet Cup car. The standard factory car can will blow up under extended duress and not have too much power, but an engine of the same with changed internals and built for high RPMs will last much longer with way better gains.
