got nismo exhaust hangers and got a rattle..

I bought the nismo exhaust hangers (guy at Nissan had no idea wtf i was talking about and gave me "oem" but the one's i have are stronger and bigger then the oem) so i was barely able to fit them on because there so bulky and strong.

These hangers got rid of all the vibration I had in the shifter completely!!! and alot of other stuff that was related to my exhaust that I had no idea about. For some strange reason when i turn on the a/c the shifter itself literally vibrates & rattles now...wtf is up with that? Only when the a/c is on and I'm at idle. It doesn't rattle when I'm driving with the a/c but pretty much only at idle. It's so damn annoying, what could trigger this when everything is so much better with the hangers...i know this is stupid to even bring up but WOW it's so annoying Thanks.

away

When you are at idle with the AC on the RPM gets closer to stall then it would with the AC off. Its because you are putting a load on the motor. At lower RPM the engine will vibrate more. Thats why the car vibrates a hell of alot when you get close to stall with a MT.

I know but i'm not stalling the motor..and the rpm's aren't going down with the a/c on, there at 900 with the a/c. It's just that the damn shifter like the entire shaft or w/e rattles. Never happened before.

well i got a 99 gxe, and mine does rattle also, but its not the AC thats causing it. I have my AC bypassed right now with a shorter belt, because i have to replace the bearing on the clutch. and it still rattles.

My exhaust used to rattle, i randomly decided to get the nismo hangers and it's a good thing i did because one of them was torn. After putting them on the rattle of the exhaust stopped and the shifter stopped vibrating in neutral and idle(this was caused by the exhaust), but the shifter itself started to rattle only with the a/c but doesn't even move when at idle.

IIRC I think I paid 20 bucks for 2 in April. For OEM.

It's a piece of rubber. You can get them at Autozone (for example).

If your old ones are not torn I would zip-tie or hose clamp around those. Holds the system very secure.

(sigh).. zip ties around the rubber hanger, in other words mad insulation added to the fact that the hangers are pretty cool in the first place. So, yeah they'll be fine..

I have them as temporary around the b-pipe hanger. The thing is they don't hold it any TIGHTER, they just resist flex. The hose clamps keep the system nice and tight (although it SHOULD have some flex).
