Fan not working at position 1 but works well on 2,3,4… what’s going on?

My max interior fan does not work at setting 1, however it works fine on 2,3,4 positions.
When I turned on the AC and put the fan on position 1 then I could hear the AC unit working but no air is coming out… again position 2,3,4 work well.
What seems the problem? I know it’s not the resistor problem since the fan is working on position 2 and 3. Any thoughts?

It is either the resistor or the switch. A resistor can still be bad yet work on other speeds. It is worth checking it w/ a DVM. Good luck

beneath glove box, towards right . When my resistor went bad, it
also only stopped running on only speed 1.

If you remove it, you will probably see where it is broken. Some are a circuit board and you can see it burnt, others are coils and can see them.

When mine was going out it was the dial/switch. I went to the junkyard and picked one up.

Well, when I get a new climate control, I will be glad to give you my fan speed switch. Still works...its worth trying since I'll give it to you. Then, if that doesnt fix it...then you know its the resistor or something else.

Oddly enough, I have the exact same issue. Except that mine only works in setting #4. I've taken the whole center dash apart; disassembled the actual dial, cleaned it, put it back in w/ no luck. I'll have to check the resistors next. I'll let you know the results.

You need to change the resistor... becasue #4 setting does not use the resistor.

Thanks for the heads-up. It's already pitch black outside so I'll have to try tomorrow or Friday. I'll let you know how it turns out.
