Replaced MAF after 160k miles...what a difference!

i was getting sluggish acceleration since i bought the car, even though i didn't have any codes of ECU. So today i finally spent time on replacing MAF (i've had one in my garage for a long time of the newer maxima but never thought about changing it as mine was working fine.....) anyways when i started the car and gave it some throtlle.... holy that was a big difference!! Now car feels jumpy and i get acceleration at all rpm range. I actually enjoy driving it again.
Just decided that my post could be helpfull to someone.

MAF cleaner would have probably done the trick.

no get the MAF cleaner and do it right, if you mess the sensitive sensor up your out 60 bucks rather than 4 for the can.

hmmmmm.....yes and no....depends on what the malfunction is......the maf basically tells the ECU how much fuel to send so if its reading less air cause of malfunction then ur actually leaning it out...but if its reading more air than its really going thru again cause of malfunction then it would send more fuel..........

But my gas mileage is horrible (13mpg or 200 miles per tank, all city) and I never rev over 2500rpm.

I heard some .org members replaced their MAF and had imrovement in gas mileage.

Is replasing the MAF will improve gas mileage even if I have no cel ?

For this you may want to consider replacing your O2 sensors... Especially if you tend to notice a strong fuel smell. This can cause the car to run rich and get bad gas mileage as well as run poorly, loss of acceleration etc.

Since I bought this car in June (with 189k miles) I replaced all O2 sensors, knock sensor, spark plugs, oil, coolant temp sensor, pcv, fuel filter, air filter, cleaned throttle body, used lucas injector cleaner and maf cleaner, seafoamed in brake booster line and crank case.

After all these replacements the performance was increased but there is almost no change in gas mileage.
There is no gas smell

a bad knock sensor would drive gas mileage from 360 a tank to 250 a tank correct?

Have you checked the injectors? If you have a leaky injector (carbon deposits and such can cause them to hang open), that could also explain a gas mileage problem.

It's worth a look if you haven't already checked.

Cleaned it today with that stuff^^.

Didnt notice anything, if anything its slower. But thats maybe because i was tinkering with with EGRC solenoid valves and cleaned/sanded the knock sensor bottom.

No, I didn't check the injectors yet. I thought I will have CEL if they are bad or I would feel hesitations or rough idle.
How do you check them ?
