Negative battery cable replacement question
Negative battery cable replacement question
Hey,
Just replaced the front left headlight socket and figured that I would replace the negative cable that has been pretty beat up. Stupid queston, I disconnected the battery cable from the engine and it is clamped up on its way back to the battery. Are these clamps just to hold the cable in place, or is there a connector feed for some other electrical component. When I got the new cable from autozone, there is a pig tail connector at the clamp. What is this for. I am totally stock with no engine or electrical upgrades. Kindly keep all boos to a dull roar.
Thanks for the help

From what I understand, it's connected to the engine and grounded to the chassis under the battery tray itself. I'd take a look and let you know, but it's raining at the moment. See if you can dig up some of the threads on the "Big 3." Those should have some photos of the battery and grounds.
Finally got the damn thing out and found out that it is connected to the chassis. DOH. The pic shows the connection to the chasis that SilverGLE and n3982 above refer to (thanks). I figure to connect the pigtail on the new cable to this ground.

Thanks for the help.
