ECU Compatablitity HELP!!

Kind of long so bear with me

Just did my auto to 5spd swap, ordered a 5spd ECU from a 96 SE. I figured a 96 ECU would work just fine...NOPE...Soon after installing the ECU i pulled up two codes:

08-03 = Absolute Pressure Sensor (AKA Boost sensor right?)
09-03 = EVAP Canister vent control valve

After looking at the EVAP canister behind the driver rear wheel i noticed that there are no electical sensors AT ALL. Im assuming this is due to the fact that 95's didnt have any electrical components back there for the EVAP canister? Hence the reason why im pulling the codes...right?

Also, after looking all over the place i cant find the "boost sensor" or "absolute pressure sensor" anywhere...is this another thing that the 95s did not have?

After looking on car-part i have gotten really confused as to what production date is the "right" one. They have things listed like:

Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), thru 5/94, GLE, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 6/94 to 8/94, GLE, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), thru 5/94, GXE, MT, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 6/94 to 8/94, GXE, MT, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), thru 5/94, SE, MT, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 6/94 to 8/94, SE, MT, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 9/94 to 11/94, GXE, MT, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 12/94, SE, MT, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 9/94 to 11/94, SE, MT, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 12/94, GLE, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 9/94 to 11/94, GLE, Calif
Elec Cont Unit (ECU), (under center of dash), from 12/94, GXE, MT, Calif

So basically my questions are:

1)Are these codes due to the fact that im using a 96 ECU on a 95?
2)What production date should i choose/look for? (IE "from 9/94 to 11/94"...etc)

I have tried my best to follow the JWT ECU list to try to find a matching ECU number, but its kind of hard to find something to match since i never had a 5spd ECU to get the proper numbers off of to begin with...

Found this on another thread, but the problem is...i have a CALI spec...Does it still apply?

You need a 95 ecu to get rid of the codes. I would find an early fed spec 95 since it would not look for an egr or evap system, so you would have no codes.

Wouldnt this effect smog tho?

Also, basically by you saying "early fed spec" Basically get something from 5/94 or earlier? Cause those dates were all pulled up when i ran an ECU for a 95...Im assuming they were producing these before the cars were released?

you need an ecu from a car with a production date of 2/94 thru 10/94 after that a 95 is the same as a 96

car-part works. When you search for parts, it usually knows that the products across years differ so it narrows your search.

Oh and make sure you don't get a GXE ECU ... don't want a speed limiter do you?

I have a greddy emanage ultimate waiting to be installed...so speed limiter isnt an issue...however i was under the impression the first half of the production year (95) GXE's didnt have speed limiters...at least my auto GXE ecu didnt..

I have noticed that the production date on my max (on the door) is 2/95

that date is not pulled up when i look on the list on car-part...and im pretty much thinking that fanaticrockford is right...but i have tried 3 different ECU's one out of a 96, and two from a 95 one of wich was a fed spec (that i have in right now) and i get two codes for TPS and EGR temp valve. After replaceing both and still geting the codes i have to come to the conclusion this is just another ECU compatability problem....i just want to MAKE sure before i get another one...

I am about to pick one up with these specs: thru 5/94, GXE, MT, Calif

I just wanted to make sure this would work....

I would think that the ECU you have now is working and that you possibly have a problem with your EGR and TPS. Try putting the old ECU back in the car. If everything is working and hooked up correctly the only codes that should appear would be for the Auto tranny. This way you'll know if you actually have a problem or if the ECU's are just being stupid.
