belt shredded =(
Welcome to the fabulous world of the V2 Kit. If your not 100% perfect with the belt, your going to shred. You have a VERY TINY window of error. Beyond that, your going to shred every single time. You can keep buying belts and install them with different style spacers and pray to god your $40 belt doesnt shred after all that time it took to install, or you can buy a V1 Conversion Kit, and switch over to a V1 Supercharger Plate Design and have 100% reliable boost, never having to worry about your belt EVERY AGAIN !!
Your not the only one either.

I have tried everything to fix it but it doesn't work for very long the longest I had one work for was 4 months. I just paid for mattys v1 conversion kit I should have it soon and by the sounds of things thats the only way to permanently fix the belt shredding issue.
One of the main differences between the V1 and V2 kit is the tensioner pulley and its assembly. With the V2 kit, the user must use the included tensioner pulley and assembly. With the V1 and Matty's kit, you're allowed to use the OEM tensioner pulley and bracket assembly. There in lies the problem... and the solution.
Brasso and trailt, are you 1000% sure you installed everything correctly? Are all the bolts in holding the plate to the side of the engine? People often leave out the hard to reach ones. The order of the washers can be a little tricky on the V2 tensioner pulley/assembly. This is the first thing I would check and double check. The bolt that goes through the tensioner bracket has a square shaft near the head. If that's not sitting correctly in the bracket as you put on/tighten the pulley, you can forget about the pulley tracking correctly. Instant belt shred. Also, there is a specific way to tighten the tensioner pulley/assembly. I can share if you want. Did you by chance change pulleys on the blower? There are many factors that can cause a belt to shred, but all are controllable by you IMO. I suggest you dig in and fix the problem at hand. If you need help, PM me, I'll be glad to assist however I can.
Also, only people with problems generally speak up. You'll never hear someone post a thread saying, "Hey, my belt is not shredding" will you? There are people with V2 SC'd maximas w/o shredding problems. Not all boosted maximas are members of this site or any other site for that matter. Stillen sold plenty of the V2 SC kits for the Maxima. We represent only a sample of the total population of SC Maximas. Ptatohed has been boosted for over 4 years w/o a single mishap and I've been boosted for 2 years w/o a glitch either. Both of us have V2 plates. Ok enough, I think you get my point.
IMO, your shredding problem is fixable. No need to switch plates until you've exhausted all possibilities and checked everything multiple times. Again, PM me if you need help.

i also have a v2 plate and haven't had any belt shredding problems and i leave out 2 bolts or so. I just make sure i tighten everything down and yes it is a pain to figure out the spacers and washers for the pulley. You can tell right when you put the pulley in you have the washer/spacer on the wrong side (all pullies must line up). I still think that you used the wrong belt and that might have caused it to shred. you said you ended up using a 4060710 but for your set up you should have used a 4060705. You said you got asp replacement pullies and a 3.125 s/c pulley and as the stickies state you need a 4060705. I've switched pullies around enough to know the belts listed in the stickies are correct other than the belt size for the 2.87. When i was putting my belt on it was a bit snug and i had to muscle it on but it loosened a lot after a couple drives and i just tightened up. Try the 4060705 belt again.

It's doable and fairly easy if you have Stillens instructions and Ptatohed SC install write-up. Incase you didn't know, it's on VQPower.com. (Stillen's instructions are part of Ptatohed's writeup)
i did what you said and watched the belt go while it was jacked up.. and i figured out the problem.. the alternator is off 1 rib for some reason. everything else lines up perfectly but that.. idk if the guy who did the alternator for me put in the wrong year part or something but it doesnt line up.. one rib of the belt always comes off.. any ideas?
what i did
I ground off material on the back of the v-2 plate to make the blower closer to the engine, mine did this to. I also install the bottom allen head screw first. the tighten the rest of the bolts, which are left rather loose while i install the lower allen head. I have no problems with belts any more. and am running a 2.62, and asp pullies. did have a pulley bearing sieze on me once though? I always use gatorback, only onse that seem to hold up and not slip!.

well what i had to do was use a 1 rib less belt for now.. 05040710 belt because everything was okay except the alternator which was 1 rib off and thats what was cutting it.. i think the mechanic who changed the alternator used the wrong one.. but with this new belt no probs whatsoever
I highly doubt the alternator is your problem! it is possible that the pulley on the alternator is wrong or is installed incorrectly? However without being able to see the vehicle its hard for anyone on here to make a real determination? No good mechanic would give you a for sure to do without looking at it themselves. that said I would hold off on grinding on your plate like I did on mine and try some different installation methods first such as making sure you absolutly have all the right washers, and that the tensioner plate is installed correctly. I would also ck out that alternator!!! I mean if you able enuf to install that blower, then sure as hell be able to R&I the alternator and make sure!! if all else fails I'd drive over to a reputable maxima.orger house that has a blower and have them take a look!
well ive installed the 6rib belt to find whats wrong and EVRYTHING lines up correctly except the alternator.. which i also measured tobe exactly 1 rib off. i domnt know how good the mechanic was that did the laternator.. i should have just done it myself.. but i think thats is the prob..
