now that the cold weather rolled in....

I am just wondering if this is normal or not. I know engines do not perform great under cold conditions but wow this is horrible. So I have been driven mostly city(stop go stop go traffic kind of driving) and my trips are no more then 8miles I have only be getting 215 miles off one tank of gas, that to me is awful. I usually get about 350 off a tank. Could cold weather really cause this much of a change? I always put mid grade ( 89 octane) in my max and do regular tune ups ( plugs, wires, oil change, clean air intake, all of that good stuff). I don’t know I am just curious is anyone else getting bad gas mileage like this? Only thing I can think of is maybe a exhaust leak? I have WSP Y pipe, high flow cat, ngk o2 sensor, remus muffler. Also I do notice at startup the engine revs to 1k then quickly drops to 300 or 400 acting like its going to stall but quickly catches its self any suggestions?

Thanks guys....

I know my max ran best in freezing weather, only probably was getting the tires to stick to the asphalt.

Mine runs much better in the cold weather[i.e. VAARROOOMMM!]

But yeah,it does use more gas in the winter due to it taking much longer to get into closed loop+letting it sit-n-warm up in the morning+putting it to the floor more..

well my tires are 38lbs all around, fuel injects, plugs, wires, filter, distibutor, cap, rotor, alternator, radiator, starter, battery, timming belt, water pump, o2 sensor, pcv valve, erg valve, y-pipe, hi flow cat, muffler, brakes, struts and more have all be cleaned or replaced over past yr. so idk...
I do know that my tranny SUCKS it slips and takes forever to engage in a gear idk if this is wats causing my mpg to go down. I do know that sometimes the tranny doesnt even unlock into high gear untill 20 mins after drivin it on highway. It basically gets stuck and for me to go 70mph its at about 3000 rpms compared to 2100 rpms under normal conditions.

Man! Busy and expensive year for the max.

I also would love to do the 5-speed swap but everybody I know that could help me thinks I'm crazy, "why do you want to make it a standard! What a hassle". Nobody understands me! lol.

Cold is also a prob with my tranny - but really only extreme cold. Like this morning it was in the low 20's and until it warms up (4-5 minutes driving) it's totally non-responsive - revs high in 1st but barely goes, and the whole car will vibrate if you try to give it too much gas once it shifts into 2nd/3rd. But like I said, once it warms up it's smooth sailing. I've thought about draining the ATF and refilling. The color is dark but it doesn't smell burnt or anything. More than likely I'll just keep letting it warm up 5-10 minutes in the morning and drive it really easy and wait for spring.
