When that happens to me I just laugh and let him floor it away from the light...

Seems cruel to race him, like racing an old woman in a motorized wheelchair.

Hm...Try racing I6's instead of I4's...Aren't Inline 6's the best balanced engines? I think i saw something like that on the forum....

Yes, inline 6s are inherently the best balanced engine
configuration. Camrys are available with V6, not I6 though.

Yes, why do you think the 2JZ-GTE (i6) motor is so much more capable of making huge power on stock internals than a VG30DETT (v6)? Likewise, a RB26DETT is nearly as strong as a 2JZ-GTE, both of which are inline 6s.

It goes along the idea of, v6s have something like, 4 crank-bearings, to an i6's 7... (i don't know the exact number, just that the inline 6 has more )

Also, you typically generate more torque than HP with an i6 than you do with a v6 when modified.

V4, hehehhe, there are no v4's in any car, that i know of. Closest is a flat 4, like in the imprezas...

Well there are some huge hp makers via the VG30DE-T V6. Some of the Mexican guys are drag racing the 300z.

Someone actually produced a V4. I believe it was Saab. Way back in the early 60's I believe.

I knew this was gonna come up..

Disclaimer on my previous post:
I am not saying the VG has no potential or can't make huge amounts of horsepower, merely saying, the RB26 and the 2J have more potential with less money and work.

Also, the 2J has been dynoed to make 900bhp on stock internals...

RB26 is not really that cheap to mod. The skyline has to upgrade to a diff tranny order to take the power. I know, it's not the engine but that tranny is like $6000!

The Toyota motor is a nice one indeed. The shortblock is really stout. The reason it's cheap to mod is that the ecu already has the fuel maps for higher than stock boost and the injectors are big enough to accomodate higher boost also. So the only thing you have to do is up the boost, install a BCD and I think the FCD.

The Nissan V6 in their VG30DETT is strong internally, but the ecu and injectors are not large enough to handle high boost w/ out replacing. That makes it very expensive. Plus the turbos are low and one each side of the motor. This again, makes it impossible to go single(ala Supra) and turbo replacements are much harder than on the Supra TT.

It's not the strength of the block perse, it's just that Toyota over engineered their engine. Also the I6 packaging, makes it easier(relatively) to work on when it's boosted.

I would say the Supra TT, after the purchase price, is the easist to get mega hp. 400HP+ is just BPU away. The Nissan RB series I have no real idea. Not really practical anyway because it's expensive to get your hands on one in the USA.

2jz-GTE = Supra Twin-turbo
2jz-ge = SC300, GS300, IS300 (it might also be the 1jz-ge engine too...the 1jz-gte resided in the JDM MKiii Supra), etc...
