This has gone long enough!!!
Maxima to an Accord this??? Maxima to a Camry that???
It's time to draw the line. I know, I know, it all started with some magazine editor a few years back but lets sum it up and end it?
*Does a Camry have 222 Horsepower? Nope!!
*Does an Accord have 222 Horsepower? Nope, not stock!!
*Has both the Accord and Camry, regardless of transmission types, ever done 0-60 in less than 7 seconds in factory timing? Don't think so!!
*Has the Accord or Camry ever been giving the tag line for revolutionizing the mid-size car market? Don't think so!!

Now let's help some people out with comparisons. Take the Maxima out and put the VW Jetta or Passat in comparison to the Accord and Camry.
The 5th Gen Max is a big car, that will get bigger in the next two model adjustments. Most of the comparisons come from the pricing structure, but maxima, with all of it's performance numbers is right in line with Mazda Millenia, BMW 328, 528, Cadillac Catera and Lincoln LS to name a few.

How do you Owners feel about your Maxima compared to other less performance oriented sedans??

Honestly I dont go after a car for its performance anymore. I got a max because i havfe had 2 prior. Overall build quality I do thing the Camry is better than the Maxima, but the Maxima is better than the Accord. I really have had more problems with Honda/Acura than I think I ever will with Nissan. The Nissan is also a much more bold design whereas the Camry for one is a very boring looking car. Even the Accord I feel is boring to look at. The Coupe isnt bad, but based on performace...wasnt a directive for my decision.

I had a V6 Accord before the Maxima, and it really is no comparison. The interior, looks, engine, and styling are all a better than the Accord. I guess the way things look are subjective, but engine feel and performance are not....and the Maxima wins there.

Nissans Dare to Be differant Attitude does em in at times. But as far as camry and accord goes, why should U spend $20K on a strip down I4 on a camry and accord when I can get a Maxima GXE with good options??? Maxima's have always been the car people have grown to love. How meny of U guys here thaught the first time U looked at the car and the rear was pritty. I remember Feb 13th 1999 when they announce the car at Chicago Auto show, sitting on my PC looking at pics of the rear and I was like WHAT THE #*&+.. but I said O well, they've always had ugly rears, except the 3rd Gen. so I'm gonna buy one anyways, screw the back.

min is different
I drove the v6 camry the v6 accord b4 i bought my max and i hated both of them.
felt too crampt and didn't seem like i was getting all the options.

Now what turned me on the the max was when i first drove the car and barley even touched the gas it just took off.
And i was like man this is the car.
The bose system, titanium guages, the titanium look around the shifter, and the rear made my decision to buy it.

Soon afterwards I saw the lexus IS300
I was kinda kicking my self for not buying that
but when i drove it
it wan'st all that in performance.

but man its a reall good looker,
If i had a choice again it owuld be tough with the IS and the max

but damn I love my max

Let me say this.... I have owned Hondas most of my driving life.... including a 94 Accord and now a (wife) 2000 V6 Accord EX.... and as far as options.... the accord takes the cake.. I paid $22,500 (new) and it came loaded: auto, power everything, auto climate, side airbags, leather, rims, wood trim, keyless, cd, 6-spekers, link transmiter.

How many camrys and Maximas come loaded for less than 23,000

The thing is that the Accord does not come with a 5sp so there is one point, and 222 Hp, wham another, and a good aftermarket supply (mostly Stillen), and a supercharger for it... YEEEEAAAAHHH. The camry also has a supercharger avail...... but the thing is..... 75% of all camrys I see are driven by women.... a camry is a "MOM's Car"..

and the Accord... well... My wife drives one... her sister drives one.... my wife's sister in-law drives one... 3 women at work drive them.... I can only think about two guys out of 12 people who drive Accords....

so the Accord gets the

The Maxx is a Cool-*** name!!!... plus it Hauls ***!!!
Nuff said!

My shopping took a different approach. I had a V6 Firebird, almost el-stripo. We needed a family car, but I wanted to keep the performance, and add A LOT of luxury.

I looked at the following "luxury sport sedans", and here were my opinions:
BMW 3 series -- Too small, and way overpriced
Audi A4 -- Too small, but had everything for the right price
Infinity G20 -- Too small, too expensive for what it is compared to A4
Infinity I30 -- Too expensive, not enough pizazz
Lincoln LS V6 -- Too expensive, dealers told me they'd never sell a 5 speed unless someone ordered one from the factory (without test driving it first -- yeah, right!)
Lexus ES 300 -- Too expensive, cookie-cutter
Pontiac Grand Prix GTP-- Too expensive, cheap looking interior (compared to foreign makes)
Buick Regal GS -- Grampa car. Horribly boring interior!
Mazda Millenia S -- Overhyped, too expensive, not enough performance for a supercharged V6.
VW Passat -- Too small, not enough performance, WAY overpriced.
'00 Chrysler 300M -- My first choice, but too expensive
(notice -- no Camry or Accord here)
