"woosh" sound during heavy acceleration

Noticed today that at almost WOT (i am gonna say 3/4 WOT) I hear a woosh sound past the 4K RPM line. Seems like a vacuum leak but it runs idles and drives fine - so gotta be a minor leak of some sort.

Any ideas where to look?

Thanks!

My friends car does this, with his CAI though...you can hear it, its sucking sound, then a slight whistle(turbo like). Check your intake tubing...maybe?

I get the Same sound from the IAC, Like a sucking sound, however it only happens once in a while and their is a loss of power when the sound is present.

Its located on the Intake manifold just past the TB.

The IACV doesnt really do anything at WOT. Its main reason for living is to tranport air from one side of a closed TB to the other and supply air to the motor, when the Tb is Closed

I've just come home and noticed that under full WOT i hear lots of wooshing sound, maybe a better description would be air sucking sound. If I let go of the pedal and hold it at 1/2 WOT - I still hear the sound but to a lesser degree...

Take the turbo off

Look for a small hole or crack in your intake

Yeah, I knew about that, but his(my friends car) is on a Focus, its a marcymotorsport CAI.

Anyway, guess some intakes just make that sound. I would assume it would be that.

Played with the air intake today and noticed that when its running, I can hear a small bov-type sound - like very light air suckling sound when i let go of the gas (that's when my head is in the engine bay... couldn't find any leaks tho )

Check all your 1" diameter hoses (they are mostly vacuum lines) for swelling, cracking, or other wear (replace as needed), Change your PCV valve ($3-6), Clean your EGR tubing (not the valve itself:replace if bad) ($3 for can of solvent)... hope that helps!

Also check to make sure you TB, IACV, etc...bolts are all tight...granted, it would be a slim chance, but you can try.

A little bit of more investigation:

The sound that I hear sounds as if a window is slightly open and air is rushing in at high speed and the sound is not uniform. Also, seems like acceleration is sluggish...

Something(leaf, stick, etc) caught in the intake snorkel? Um, make sure your snorkel is all the way in the air box(mine comes out easily). Ill let you know if I have any other ideas.
