The Clutch reservoir bandit struck again.
The Clutch reservoir bandit struck again.
I got up this morning to go to work. I actually woke up on time and was ready to go to work. Scraped some ice off the windshield, got in the car and started her up, with some feathering of the throttle a little she idled fine. I try to shift into reverse… no go, I try to shift into 1st no go. I’m thinking. . . does the tranny fluid need to warm up some? No, it has a low freezing point. So I thought. . . hmm this pedal feels a little limp. Check under the hood to see the reservoir bone assss dry. I fill with brake fluid and pump, still not enough pressure.
Luckily when I was going in to work early to try and get some overtime, and luckily this happened at home. Ran into the garage, grabbed my hand pump, added brake fluid, and bleed the upper line (most of the air gets caught there anyway). Bleed out a lot of air, and then got some fluid thru. Had enough pressure so I can make it to work (ontime). I’ll do a full bleed at lunch time, and put my SS line on that I’ve been procrastinating on.
I didn’t see any leaks, I must be boiling it off. That’s all just sharing my story of the Clutch reservoir bandit, he has struck again . . . what a bastard

it was cold too! and my beater is down, need to buy a battery and put on the idler pulley I stole to put on my car.
It didnt take long, but the face that I had to do that. I feel once I put the SS line on and a full bleed, I should be fine.

I sure will.
I've been downshifting more than normal lately (wanting to break in my clutch in a little soon). Not sure if the additional heat was sufficent enought to start boiling off some of the fluid. Or if the old oem spongy line is starting to see its end, especially with a stronger clutch with a higher clamping force installed in the car.
I'll find out when I get home and put the SS line on, I'll examine the old line and look for leak(s)

line is leaky. the line is wet where it meets that box that bolts down to the tranny mount. Fluid amount hasnt decreased, but that part of the line shouldnt be wet at all. SS line will go on.
