Strut replacement
Strut replacement
alright i searched, didnt find much relevant information. Checked the FSM and it is so vague. My 98 i am lowering, and well looking at the suspension today while i had it on the hoist it looks to be stupidly easy to get the strut assembly off. For some reason i thought it was much more complicated. So is this all that needs to be removed/done
remove wheel
remove 2 bolts holding steering knuckle onto strut housing
remove abs/brake line clip that holds it onto the strut housing
remove 3 bolts on strut tower, strut assembly should drop out?
for the rear its almost basically the same thing, except support the rear beam
remove the bolt holding the strut to the beam
remove 2 bolts inside trunk on strut tower
Then i just have one other quick question. I have the springs already (sprints) and i am getting struts soon, so what i am wondering is what else should i replace, the car has 184K miles, is replacing the upper strut mounts, and mount bearings neccesary? The dusboots i am replacing. Are the KYB boots any good?
Also i tried emailing sprint but it wouldnt go through. How much should i cut the bumpstops?
thanks
Chris

After 9 years and 184K miles, I'd replace the bearings. I would not replace the mounts unless you have issues with them...broke, cracked, etc. If you've got rubber inserts for the upper spring seats, I'd replace those too. I'd use oem parts with these, not aftermarket...but that's just me.
