B&M sts install anyone bend one?

I took the plunge and I'm going to install a sts and was a little concerned about how the new shifter will be a little further towards the front making it harder to reach. Has anyone ever bent a B&M sts to make it easier to reach? I have a friend who has a machine shop so the shifter should be pretty easy to bend but was wondering is there would be any draw backs that you could see by doing this?

Reducing the structural integrity of the shifter so it will be more prone to snapping. I wouldn't do it. I had the same concerns as you so I never bothered with any STS on the maxima.

Are your arms that short that you cant compensate for the shifter sitting at most an inch farther forward? If its that big of a problem, than move your seat up, but bending the shifter would be a bad idea.

if you have a cutting torch you could heat it up and bend it. probably not a good idea though. i thought about doing it to mine but by now i'm already used to it...

Swap for a 2k-2k1 tranny like I did... moves the shifter back to normal.

There's nothing wrong with the B&M shifter. You won't hit the trim around the shifter, and you'll reach it fine. If anything you'll be glad you installed it compared with the stock.

Idk if you can see but in my sig pic there should be a pic of it. It's perfect!! Don't bend it.
