lowered(H-tech/Illumina) & uneven tire wear

My front tires are wearing on the insides more than the outsides. I lowered the car on H-techs and illuminas about 13,000miles ago. I got an alignment 5-6 days afterward. There are about 18,000 miles on the BFG Traction T/As. I don't know if this problem existed before I bought the car because the tires were new when I bought it.
Could lowering the car cause this? What should i look for? I mean the Htech/illumina setup gives a very moderate drop. Also my passenger side axle is making noises and the boot is torn, I don't know if that has anything to do with it though.

Go back and get that alignment checked. With proper alignment, I never had uneven tire wear, and I ran H-Techs and Illuminas on my I30.

thanks for the response, will do. I haven't rotated my tires in about 18,000miles, wonder if that can cause this too.

It can. Shame on you for not rotating. It only takes 20 minutes...

That reminds me- I need to rotate mine...

that axle has nothing to do with it but you should get that fixed at the same time. the axle will need to be fixed and it sounds like just excessive camber, you alignment could be off and when you lowered it, it just increase the amount of camber causing your tires to wear out even more.

Best way is to post up your alignment specs. I don't know of any place that does it for free.

make sure you have the proper amount of air in your tires.

alignment.

and balance. then rotate.

any one of these for things could be the culprit.

if you end up getting new tires, take it to discount tires to get it mounted and they will give you a free lifetime rotation and balance.

Should not be camber as it is not adjustable (without kits). I currently have H-Tech and Konis and I have no problems but I had even lower springs before and no problems.

Chances are you have too much toe-in plus the lack of tire rotation....

So the lack of tire rotation can be a possible cause for the insides to wear more? How long does an alignment typically last before you need another one?
I forgot to mention this but I did put about 10,000 miles on the car in the last 3 months, don't know if that may have played a role.

The last time I had mine done, and take this with a grain of salt- this was from Sears auto, they told me it should be good for 6 months. I'm assuming 6 months for people who drive 12k miles a year. In anycase, given the fact that I dont do my alignments that often, and I was doing about 30k a year, I'm willing to bet that the problem is not an alignment that is just past due- if it was done right to begin with, you'd be good for a while. The other things mentioned should definitely be checked.

BTW; I'm also lowered on H&R's with Illumina's..
