Myth busted - dynomax superturbo

I finally installed my Dynomax Superturbo (#17747) muffler yesterday. Held my breath and started the car... hardly louder than stock at idle. Still not convinced, hopped on the highway, still quiet as stock! I'll see how it sounds as the glasspack "burns" off, but I'm really pleased with it. The shop installed a nice double-walled tip (I picked the oval after much consideration, since the round tip was 3" and looked small).
This muffler is the same size as stock about 21" long & oval shape and not a straight through type, so keep that in mind since the smaller Superturbo may be noisier.
My mods are Budget-y, Magnaflow "free-flow" cat, stock b-pipe.

However, like I said..it's pretty quiet, not sure if you'll notice the difference, but like a good .orger, I'll oblige.

My opinion is that the oval tip makes the look of the exhaust. It is in a good spot- not sticking out too far, IMO.

Nice to hear a SUCCESS from time to time!

Glad you like it....what was the myth though. I recall many people recommending the Dynomax Superturbo as being one of the quietest mufflers. :dunno:

Is there really any gain to swapping the exhaust on a Maxima? I mean, as far as power wise. Is it for economical reasons?

Does anyone actually have ET's to show any difference?

I wanted it tucked in a little more, but when i looked at it while hte car was on the hoist (I was on a ladder), it looked ok...oh well...

I'll get a longer clip with some revving, I did that in a hurry

I somewhat ended that myth awhile ago. There were a select few...of which did NOT have the muffler said it sounded like crap and was loud.

First of all it does not sound like crap, with the revs under 2k rpm it gives off a deep exhaust tone, other then that i can hardley hear it. I didnt want a loud rice canister, if i did i wouldnt have chosen the dynomax superturbo

If you guys are looking for vids/sound clips i have a few. Ill post up the links if you want. Honestly there is not much to hear its pretty quiet.

Possibly a tad louder I agree. Later on I may replace mine with Budget-b, but there are other things I can spend my money on ...like SFC's

OT: Personally I'd never do SFC's unless you're gonna be auto crossing alot, the weight/ ground clearance issue just doesnt sit well with me. LTB's and sway bars are a different story.

No rev sound clips yet? You have me interested in getting one of these, if Speedy sells these sounds like it'll be in my budget.

Sorry...forgot all about that, but like I said, it sounds pretty much stock. If you have an intake (I'm back to stock), it will drown it out. Hence, if you want big sound, look elsewhere.

whats the difference between the different numbered mufflers? where did you get yours?

edit: i figured it out Does that mean with a budget b-pipe you need the 2.5 version?

#17747 = 2.25" inlet & exhaust
#17748 = 2.5" inlet & exhaust
I still have the stock b-pipe which is 2.25" which worked in my favour since the seller had the #17747. However, I don't see a big deal in using either of these with a 2.5" (or vice versa)
