3.5 swap good for a Daily driver?

Just wondering what your thoughts on using a 3.5 motor for a daily driver, basically the things i dont want in a DD, rough start, rough idle. I want to be able to remote start my car in the winter, and not have to worry about it stalling out.

If you do your swap correctly, there are no issues. Starting and drivability is the same as stock.

20k on my 3.5 DD. I did have starting issues(push the gas when starting), but I moved the IACV closer to the TB and has not been a problem since. I get 21-23MPG in town and 27-30 highway on 3.0 ecu.

I have a cold start issue...I feather the gas for ten seconds. I think my IACV hose is too small and too far away from the IM. Other than that, it's a great DD.

3.5 swap will make you a very happy daily driver, if you are able to sort out the corresponding problems...

haha matty your a jerk :P . Well i dont see any point in fixing this variable intake, that was the whole reason to get this motor 01-dek. Now im basically just driving a regualr vq 30de.

Well, if you can't even hang with dek-vi problems, I don't see how you can line up a VQ35 for DD. It'll be daily fixin, that's what you'll be doing...

VQ35 has more problems to deal with than a dek-vi. You can get a mechanic shop to install the motor, but the custom work to fight rough idle and cold start is always left for us to do. So, you'll just get stuck again on the intake manifolds. That's paying more to get even more trouble. Listen to Matt.

I dont have any cold start problems eversince i raised my idle to 900rpm. I dont even have to hold the gas like I used to before when the idle was at 750ish. Also at 900rpm I notice my idle is much more stable than it was at 750ish, so 2 birds with one stone.

Also my idle isnt THAT rough to make the ladies think car is broken, and I have urethane motor mounts and x-member bushings. The only time I feel a "higher than normal" vibration is for like the 1st minute after the 1st start in the mornings.

EGR- I have an 02 motor, doesnt have EGR. I could get rid of that code though with the resistor deal (its on the 4th gen How-To Sticky somewhere)

IACV- I dont have one. StephenMax makes an adapter plate for you to be able to use yor IACV on the 3.5IM. I just dont have a need for it
