Battery light on when key is NOT in the ignition...
So, some time last week, I noticed the battery light coming on twice while driving. Didn't think much of it. Thought maybe a loose wire or something.
So, on to the current issue. Over the weekend, I replaced the rear valve cover which requires removal of the IM etc. Once I got it all back together (the EGR was totally blocked!), I got in the car and noticed the Battery light was on w/ the key NOT in the ignition. It would start up fine and the light goes away when the key is in the on position.
I got in the car this morning and started driving to work but stopped on the way and it wouldn't restart (5-6 miles but about 10-15 minutes in traffic). I did notice that the clock was gone/out and when I turned on the headlights, it made the amp'd speakers make a funny sound. I thought, great, electrical issues!
I pulled the battery and it was very low on acid. So, I put a different battery in and it started right up and I was able to drive it home. I drove the same distance and when I got home, I was able to turn it off (with the light coming on again) and restart w/o issue so I'm not sure if the dead battery has anything to do w/ the light being on.
So, is there something on these cars that would make the light come on or is it I just have a short somewhere? Any ideas?

sounds crazy..doesnt surprise me though with these jap cars with all the electrical and sensors everywhere if somehow there is a weird circuit that fuct up to make it do that...dont know what i can really say to help u though besides maybe getting a diagram of your electrical system and doing everybodys favorite trial error from start to finish or just say....screw it
