Dont know enough to diagnose the problem but how is the car still under warranty? If so just let the stealership do the work. If not, im sure there will be many guys in here who can help you troubleshoot.

I wouldn't have waited this long to take it in. They should have been made aware of this problem when it first began. The longer you wait, the better odds that you'll be paying for a problem Nissan should have covered from the get-go.

Now get that girl in there.

does the speedo seem to work when this happens? speed sensor perhaps? IAC valve? how does it idle in gear at a stop? how does it idle in neutral or park?

i remember somewhere in the manual it said that the car will lock the tranny in a gear under some weird circumstances and all you have to do is just to restart the car.

maybe thats wut happend? or ur tranny is really dying

BTW, does ur tranny make whines in first gear? cuz mine does. The car (i am guessing it is the tranny) whines in 1st gear if i shift up to 2nd gear the sound just goes away. I have a 5AT does anyone else have the same problem?

maybe you have an issue with the TCM and not the actual tranny. either way, its stealer time

I suspect the TCM or ECU has put the tranny in a fail safe mode. I hope the stealer will just find a bad or disconnected sensor somewhere.

Probably under warranty but say the problem just started. Otherwise you are giving them an excuse to deny coverage.

if your tranny is shifting hard, especially under warranty, bring it to the dealership. this happened with my 02 and they replaced the tranny for free.

It might be some fluid that you to replace or refill. When we use the "shift mode" (lol) alot, you are actually suppose to get this fluid replaced or refilled. I found that out from a dealer here in NY. They wont tell you about that though. So I highly doubt your tranny is going. It might be that stuff you gotta put back in.

Props to the auto 4 speed.

I have one and I like it tremendously. I have no need to manually shift.

You are missing out on a great feature, and you don't even know how much.

yeah thats normal if you are using the automatic by itself. If your using tronic then it shouldnt shift until like 6K or something like that. Only use it when your racing.

PS: has anyone taken out aything else minus the donut for weight reduction?
if so, what else can I take out that can help with weight?

Holla!!!

It shifts at 6600 and a little more if you hold the shifter down, but if you hold it too long then it will just bog down.

Right now I have the WHOLE rear end taken out. Not for the purpose of weight reduction, but for speaker access and window tinting access. Well, I only have the rear deck, and the entire back seat taken out. You can also take every single thing out of the trunk if you want. I remember weighing everything-both big trunk floor mats, jacks, spare, all the lining in the trunk, and just the back seat cushion and it totaled out to about 90lbs IIRC. When I actually unbolted the back part of the rear seat, that thing must've weighed at least 40-50lb, if not more, so you are looking at a good 130-150lb weight reduction if you take out the entire rear end.

Little gains (or should I say losses) here and there can be done by getting some sort of CAI, which would eliminate all of the plastic crap from the OEM intake and obviously improve motor performance. Getting a y-pipe from C/E, even though they are out of business and I'm not sure if TAZ still has any, but I think the weight savings was pretty good for just replacing the y-pipe. Get lighter "racing" wheels, I personally have the 350Z track wheels that weigh roughly 10lb less each than stock.

You can also just go crazy and gut the whole car...?

Hope this helped

if it slips then its definetly going out. the way you know for sure is if you are at a stop and you get on the gas but the car doesnt go anywhere and suddenly it jumps. i say take it to the stealership and have em put a new one in.
