I think its my wheel bearing?

Hey guys,

what started over 6 months ago a woo-woo-woo sound on left hand turns from my front passeneger wheel. Now it does all the time after 30mph. Also i saw my passenger tire start wearing out fast, seems like i hvae some play in the wheel when driving. It sounds llike a bad bearing, now my quesiton is wat is the worst scenario if i do not change it because i plan on get gettng a diff max soon. It just that this woo-woo is getting louder and more frequent. thanks

raise the car....

grab the wheel at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and shack it up and down....

if there is any play the bearing is bad...

also do the same thing from side to side....

9 o'clock and 3 o'clock....

I seriously advise that you have it changed. It always starts out with low whine and an occasional rub but then gets worse with everyday wear. Once your bearing is bad, the only thing that's holding the hub assembly is the brake caliper.

But I would also do as the member stated and jack the car up. Give the wheel jerks at the 12/6 & 9/3 angle. If there is any give, then you will need to have it changed asap.

The worst case scenario is obviously the wheel locking up at a bad time, sending you into oncoming traffic............ I can already here people chiming in saying "yeah but that won't happen forever, you'll just destroy the hub or spindle first making it a little more expensive to fix blah blah blah" And I couldn't agree more with that, but you asked for the WORST case scenario, and that's it, however that would take some time, it would get real bad and start grinding and everything before that happened.
