Replacing Fuel injectors, how do i prep?

Hello,

I am replacing one stock fuel injector and the last time I did it I managed to mess something up because i didnt drain the gas from the line beforehand.

Now that I am doing it again I would like to approach it a little smarter and drain the line first.

So what im really asking is what do i need to prep for a fuel injector change?

Thanks!

pull the fuel pump replay and turn the car on until it dies then you should be fine.

be sure to coat the new injector's o-rings with new engine oil. Makes for a much better seal and this is what it says to do on the FSM if you dont trust me, lol.

When reinstalling the fuel rail, be sure not to crush any of the injector grommets, otherwise, vaccum leak FTL.

Goold luck

Why are you replacing ONE injector anyways??

Well I replaced my injector and its like a have a brand new car.

It fixed....

Rough shifting
Slow acceleration
Rattling in idle and stopped
Misfiring
Hesitation from accelerating around 1.5k
Heavy downshifting

I cant be happier and it only took 15 minutes.

No mods, just a stock 95' GLE. Id like to do stuff to it but it has fairly high miles and any mods to it might put more strain on the engine and tranny. Id like to do a 3.5 swap w/ tranny, but i dont have the money for that now.

DEKs run for ~$400-$600. plus, any mods u do now, like ypipe and intake, can be used on the new motor, 3.5 included :-D. But yea man, take ur time with it and have fun

You ohm out the injector, if it tests bad you replace it. Typically you do so after failing to find a coil or plug as the fault of a misfire. Injector is the next step

I can get injectors locally for $8 or $100, it depends on where you get them.
