I have the R32 dual beams headlights with TSX projectors.

The harness seems to be done correctly with the diode; low beam stays on with the high beam at night.

But when I want to flash someone, the low beam (TSX projectors) will turn on AS WELL WITH the high beam. Is this correct? Did I do something wrong with the harness? Does it happen to you guys who's done the retrofit too?

 

Yes, this is correct. Stock 9004s disable the low beam in order to high beam. That means if you want to keep the lows activated with the highs you need to wire it so the high beam signal activates both the low beam and the high beam.

So, whenever your high beams are on, your low beams will be on. If you want, you can add another relay to the low beams and wire the condition to the parking lights, so if your parking lights aren't on then your low beams won't come on. (This is what I did.) Otherwise you're going to kill your ballasts flashing people.

 

Is there a write up for this; or could you write one? This is what I am def looking for. I don't fully understand relays and how to create an extra "if..then" condition

Morpheus, you should do a "how to" for us. Please! I am guessing that it doesn't matter what type ballast you have ... D2s or whatever. So, I guess I should be looking for 3 relays, not just two. To tie into the parking lights, did you just run them to the relay, the relay to the low beams?

lol yeah, it is the stock bulb plug.

When I did my hanress, the positive wires were in different positions than the diagram...maybe it was negative signal or something; I do'nt know, never bothered to do that test.

Been looking around HIDPlanet for some sort of write up...haven't found anything. Maybe I'm look over some threads too quickly or something I don't know...hope someone has done a write up.

 

I run a slightly different setup. I grafted in Murano bixenon projectors, into my housing. I run Phillips bulbs/ballasts.

I had to wire mine up so that I could enable the high/beam shield actuator. So my wiring had to tap the stock bulb harness, and using that alone, control both the HID, and the bixenon actuator.

If anyone is running a bixenon setup and needs a wiring diagram for that, let me know. My wiring harness looks a lot like the one above, but that one is redundant. You can wire it without the need of the second relay.

This is true, I didn't use the relay for the solenoids either--completely unnecessary.
