I just did the alternator replacement on my 97' SE and now when I first fire her up with the A/C on I get a nasty squeel coming from the tension pully area.. if I turn the air off it go's away or if I drive and rap her up to 5 grand it go's away and stays away untill I let it sit for a while..

any ideas?

thanks guys

You need to tighten the belt.

Yes, or loosen the belt if it has been overtightened, or replace the tensioner bearing if it is on the verge of failure.

Had the same thing!

After my alternator was replaced my belt pulley went, so i and replaced the belt and the pulley. The belt started squeeling when i start the car. I went back and the guy sad that japanese cars have to be tight on the belt so he tighten it even more. The mechanick who fixed my car didnt know about that.
