VAFC removal question?

Okay, heres my situation.... I decided to disconnect the VAFC from my car by clipping the wires... I'm not sure if thats the way your supposed to do it, but thats how I did it.
Anyways, I figured it would be okay but now, the car is not going past 2800rpms (which I know its a MAF issue) Is that normal!?? Would the vehicle be acting up this way because of the simple disconnect?

I mean the MAF's wiring harness is not interrupted or disconnected and I never had that problem before I installed the VAFC??

Any ideas!? I'm gonna check the voltage on the MAF once I get out of work, but just thought I'd try to get a heads up on what the problem could be.

did you make sure you rerouted the MAF wires back to factory after removing the VAFC?

Sounds like you didn't reconnect the MAF properly. The VAFC intercepts the MAF signal, so that wire is cut during the install. The signal effectively goes from MAF sensor -> AFC -> ECM. If you disconnect or uninstall the VAFC, you need to reconnect the MAF so that the signal goes from sensor to ECM directly.
