Installed New Rotors/Pads but......
I have brake service shop to installed new rotors and pads in my 04 maxima.
The reason for to install new rotors/pads is because my previous rotors were warped. It was making squeaking noise applying brakes and also my stearing wheel was vibrating high enough.
After installing new rotors (power slots slotted only) and pads (hawk) in my maxima, previous vibration completely gone but after a week of driving, my car started again to makes squeaking noise if I apply brakes. Also I can hear noise like "zip..zip..zip..zip..zip" all the time when I drive my car.
I know I am going to have them my brakes check to see whats wrong with it but does anyone has any idea what could be wrong with my car?
Thanks in advance.

Is the sound sort of a slight grinding sound? I did my fronts rotors and pads about 2 weeks ago and noticed a grinding sound even when not applying the brakes and it ended up being the flimsy sheet metal backing directly behind the rotor. I guess I had bent it slightly while removing the old rotor. I was able to bend it back out without even jacking up or removing the tire. Problem solved. My guess is that is what you have going on because that sheet metal is really thin and flimsy.
Good luck.
Good luck.
I am not an expert about cars and fixing problems but of course I could take a look at it the way you have described.
I mean I could go to mechanic/dealer and get everything fixed but I affraid my lack of knowledge about car problems might help them to ripp me off.
Everytime I start driving, I can hear noise like zip...zip...zip or woop...woop...woop all the time. It will synchronize with speed and If I go above 70-75 mph, it will be hard to notice. Its like you have one old tire with some bubbles on it that makes some louder noise. I have done my car alignment month ago but I could get it done again if require.
About the brakes, it works fine except noise when I come to full stop. I can hear noise during last moment of stop. Lets say If I have to stop my car running 60mph and If I take 10 seconds to stop my car, first 6 to 7 seconds it will be fine but last 3 to 4 seconds when my car is about to stop completely, it makes squeaking noise. I feel strongly like its coming from my rear wheels but I could be wrong. This noise is like when really old suspension hitting bumper and makes sqeek sqeek sqeek noise when suspension springs compresses/decompresses because of hitting bump. I am not sure this is brakes making noise or something else. I tried to use hand brake and I can not hear that noise, it only appears when I use foot brake.
Please forgive me if I am eating-up space/bandwidth on this forum but any help/hint will be appreciated. Please excuse me for my english or grammar.
TIA

i was going to post about this problem as well, anyways iv got the same problem. i recently replaced my rotors, got the powerslot drilled and pads from stillen.com
like u said the noise only comes at the last few seconds before u come to a complete stop. anyways i got it checked by my mechanics and he couldn't find any problems with the brakes. i was thinking about changing the brakes pads hopefullly that might solve the problems or maybe the power slot rotors are a piece of ****.

What I heard from here and there is: For disc brake pads with wear indicators, an audible continuous noise is made when the pads need replacement. The wear indicators do not damage the discs, although the pads should be replaced as soon as possible.
Like yours, mine rotors & pads were installed just a weak ago, how can pads go bad if you consider above statement? might be pads glaze up due to excessive heat? if so how to clean-up build-up glaze? sometime aggressive breaking helps here.
Hmmm the obvious answer points to 2 thing.
1) You have a brake pad dragging and that's rubbing against the rotor giving you that sound - check your pad 'clips' if they exist.
2) Drilled and/or slotted rotors will make a mild 'card in the spokes' sound upon applying the brakes. This could sound like a zip zip zip zip sound depending on how you describe it. This is normal because of the air being directed through and around the rotor marks.
If you have screeching, try to reseat the pad and apply anti-squeal compound to it.

took my front brakes out today, made sure everything is in place, applied anti squeal grease but still the sound started to come after a little drive around the block. im just going to replace the pads and see if that would help or not.
I went to the brake shop today where they installed my rotors/pads.
The guy took a test drive and park my car straight in to garage.
He opened my wheel and cleaned rotors, pads. Installed back everything and noise gone.
I asked him what if noise come back?
He says having combination of rotors/pads cause glaze build-up on rotors/pads. He says drive your car to 40-50 mph and slam your brake hard, repeat this few times and it will clean build up glaze. Make sure you do this in empty road or parking lot.
TIA

I agree with your explaination but the shocking observation in my car is:
That zip zip zip zip noise appears when my car is running free (no brakes are in use) but if I apply brakes, the noise starting to disappear.
May be a bubbles popped in tires?
May be bad rings in tires?
Alignments was done 2 weeks ago.
Did you "burnish" the new brake pads? As per manual, 10 cycles of:
brake from 30 mph to almost 0 so you stop in 3-5 seconds, drive one minute for cooling, and repeat.
My drilled/slotted rotors do make a wizzing sound while braking.

Ok I found something regarding to my issue.
My rear left wheel only makes squeaking noise, but only after driving 20 to 30 miles, all other wheels seems ok.
Last week-end I took both rear wheels apart and tried to spin both rear rotors by hands. Before I try to spin my rotors, I released preasurre from brake lines and released both pards from rotors in order to spin rotor freely.
What I found was my rear left rotors spins but find resistance at certain area of rotor. If I apply only little force to spin my rotor for once 360 degree circle, it will stop at one point, seems like find resistance there. I am 100% sure it wasnt pads because I kept both pads apart from rotor.
If I continue spinning my rotors, it find resistance at one point and at the same time makes "ziippp...ziippp...ziippp" noise. I tried to bend thin metal cover behind the rotor but that sound and resistance stayed there.
I believe because of this, my rotors are getting hot and that cause to build up glaze on rotor/pad and hence I can hear squeaking noise after driving 20-30 miles. If I let my rotors cool down, I dont hear this squeaking noise but after rotors getting little hot, I can hear squeaking noise at full stop. Besides this I can hear that "ziippp...ziippp...ziippp" noise all the time. So I guess that "ziippp...ziippp...ziippp" noise is the resistance my rotor finds at one point of rotor makes my rotors to heat-up hence I am getting that squeaking noise after driving several miles.
I have not checked my front rotors though but I will during coming week-end.
Does anyone can help me with this?
Excuse me for my english or grammar.

Can you see where the rubbing is occurring by looking on the rotor for unusual markings?

There is an outside chance it could be a bearing but that wouldn't be my first guess.

I installed new rotors/pads few weeks ago, you think so regardless it may warped?
I am not quiet sure about metal splash cover might touching the rotor, I have to look that again. If its not that that means it might be a bearing.
I am not sure what do I check in order to make sure "Is the rotor seated properly on the hub?"
I looked at everything on rotor but I couldnt find any unusual masking or wear on rotor. But again, I only checked my rotor from out side, I do not know the condition of inner face of rotor. In order to check that, I might have to remove caliper and rotor but like I said, I am not an expert to do that.
To be your surprise, with my old rotors, it was also making squeaking noise from the same rear left rotor from about a month, before I replaced new rotors. But with my old rotors, I never had that "ziippp...ziippp...ziippp" noise, and this noise is way beyond the noise that should occur from slots on rotors, it is very loudy noise.
I had a noise and found it to be the metal splash cover touching the rotor. But that noise came only when the car was moving. I got a rock in there at one time and it made noise to. Never had a noise when the car was stoped.
I would suggest to take the rotor off and double check for dirt, rust, anything that could prevent the rotor to make 100% flat contact with the hub. If it still rubs in one spot, your could try your old rotor or switch with other rear rotor but that's a pain.
The rotor could have been dropped during shipping. Get it turned, $12-15$.

My front 2 rotors are very good high performance rotors and works fine.
I have ordinary 2 rotors on rears and I found problems.
So I ordered 2 rear very good performance rotors and will be switching soon.
I will update results incase someone else running with the same problem like I do.

Anyway, I already ordered rear rotors to get rid off cheap rear rotors currently I have installed.
I found my rear rotors rubs pause rubs pause rubs pause when I spun my wheel (and spun rotor without wheel.) I believe thats why my brakes squeaks during full stop. It may be because this cheap rotor has uneven or irregular surface. Specially those cheap rotor makers/sellers buy plain rotors and drill/slot them and that may change regularity of rotor surface.
I hope my problem get fixed after installing new high performance rotor (the same kind I have on front.) We'll see...
Be sure to follow the bedding in procedure that come with your pads. I just changed from stock disks / pads to EBC Red Stuff pads and Rotor Pros drilled / slotted disks and did the bedding process as EBC instructed. I have no more noise than I did with the stock setup.

Updates: Changed rear rotors with high performance rotor and that squeaking noise is gone forver......unless it come back again.
Definately those old cheap rotors were not compatible with high performance pads.
But that zip...zip...zip...zip kind of noise still exists.
I am going to rotate all tires very soon to see that has to do something with it.
Does anyone with slotted rotors experiencing this noise?
TIA

My apology for eating up bandwidth of this forum.
I went for an oil change today and at the same time I requested for tire rotation.
Guess what? that zip zip zip zip noise brought down to 25% now. Just because before I removed all tires myself and installed it back but with not proper lug not torque, I think I found noise on my tired/wheels while driving. I also had minor shimmy issue and thats gone too.
My guess now I have normal zip zip zip zip like card in spoke noise because of my all slotted rotors and it will be gone after my pads rotors wear down a little bit.
I am just updating all work done because someone may get help with similar problem out of my experience.
Thanks
