goodbye my baby

Just totaled my 96 maxima se tonight. Just got home, still in shock. It was my fault i was making a left turn on green and i failed to yield to on coming traffic. There were 2 lanes of on coming traffic and the guy in the outer lane was slowing to a stop so for some reason i thought i was good to go and i got t boned on the passenger side by the guy in the inner lane driving an suv. I saw it coming and it was too late to brake so i slammed the gas and tried to swerve left. I had 2 friends in the car both on the passenger side (rear and front). I got hit square in the center support of the frame and the whole passenger side is folded in. My car did a 180 and it landed in the grass on the side of the road. my friend in the rear didnt have his seat belt on and that might have saved his life bc his door was completely folded in and he got pushed over. Everyone is fine. I feel awful. I dont wanna ever see anything like this again. It's one thing if im alone and i screw up but to have other ppl with me just makes me feel horrible and im thankful that everyone is ok.

One of my friends had a camera so maybe i can get some pics up sometime of what used to be my car and the one thing i could always rely on. I don't think there is anyway i could afford another maxima so i think im going to just have to try to scrounge up some money for a beater and learn my lesson.

This whole thing still hasn't fully hit me yet. I never understood what ppl meant when they said that till now. i keep thinking that if i just go downstairs and open the door to the garage my baby will be there and i'll just smile and then shut the door like old times.

hating life right now...

Sucks to hear man. Just don't forget, it's only a car. Get over the loss of your car and be happy your friends are okay. Live and learn.

wow, 6 or 7 maxes this summer i've seen fade away. makes me sad cause i've lost soo many nice cars to accidents. you can probably part her out if they let you keep it, and i've seen many people find higher mileage maxes for like 2,000 or so so maybe you'll get lucky. good luck, glad you and your homey's are allright.....

Thanks for the responses guys.

Yeah i want so badly to keep her bc shes still runs fine and theres great parts for me to use on another max or sell but i have no where to keep it so i guess i'll just try to give it to the tow place or something to cover my bill.

def a learning experience as everyone said.

i checked out a 97 gle today guy put up a nice sounding ad...great condition etc...went to see it and it was in horrible condition inside and out. Car searching process/dishonest people are no fun.

still trying to get pics posted up sometime...

Be patient. There are lot of well maintained maximas out there. Don't settle and don't always trust a car fax, it is not always complete. Have it checked out by your mechanic. Sorry to here about the 96. Glad no one was injured.

honesty

i like how you take full responsibility for the accident and admit right off the bat that you made a mistake. takes a special breed of person to not get defensive, especially when their car has been destroyed as a result. maybe its just people to who drive maximas....
