New Rotors and Pads Vibration Question

I have noticed a mild vibration on my brake pedal when I hit the brake hard from a decent speed (say 50mph). I assume it may be the rear brakes being engaged as a slower speed does not do this with the same amount of brake pressure. Does anyone have an opinion what it could be?

I plan on taking my rear wheels off and reseating the pads in the rear this weekend...

A vibration in the pedal usually points towards a bent/warped rotor.

Is there any way that the wheels were over torqued? Or anyway that the new rotors have already been overheated?

I got the drilled/slotted ones and cranked them on without power tools. I'm going to do a full inspection this weekend...

You know, when you install wheels, they really should be tightend to spec with a torque wrench.

I know guys that have done more damage tightening by hand than by using pneumatics.

I'm not sure where you got your rotors, but don't be surprised if they were bad straight from the manufacturer. I got a bad one from Advanced on my prior car about 2 years ago. Fortunately it had a warranty and they gave me no problem exchanging it for a new one. Installed and no problems after that.

Is this a common thing for our cars? I actually notice the same thing happening when I slowly approach a stopping point. It's as if it all of a sudden started happening today. Nissan just did a tire balance when they changed the oil like maybe 3 weeks ago. I'd hate to take it back to them and look stupid. Can any of you guys offer advice. Got a 6th gen(06) SE. I think I'm due for a major maintenance deal at 30k. I'm at 28 right now... any advice/help would be undoubtedly appreciated guys.

Peace

stock rotors for just about any car (unless it's a high end car) are pretty much crap, from what I've experienced.. my rotors are warped too and need replacing...

like longhorn said, it's very possible that they were bent before you bought them.. I'd guess dropping them or stacking them on the sides can warp them pretty easily, and I've seen plenty of them dropped or stacked on the sides..

i'd think your rotors have runout and would need to be cut.

Make sure that when you install the rotors yourself the hub is clean from rust and debris, if something is wedged in between the rotor and hub you will have the unbalanced rotor. I would clean the hub with a steel brush.

I will say this. I bought drilled and slotter rotors off of ebay and the OEM pads from Nissan. The install was very easy and it's night and day from the OEM rotors that were vibrating badly. Now when I apply the brakes it's so smoooooth! I kept the OEM rotors and may have my buddy look at them at his shop but from what I heard they warp easily. Glad I made the change!

The issue was one of the new rotors was warped off the GD. I replaced it and all is well. Now there is just a little zipping sound as the pads bite hard...think thats normal though...

I have the service manual for the 04 and it says 101-129 ft-lb for the bracket to wheel hub/steering knuckle assembly and 17-22 ft-lb for the caliper to bracket bolts. I'm not sure if the setup is similar on the 06 or not.
