All speakers on the left side of stock system not working ??

So for a while now, the left front tweeter in my stock system has not been working properly. Now all the left speakers (tweeter and door speakers) are not working when I play CD's yet they work fine when I play the radio. I have added a subwoofer to the stock system but thats it. Anyone know what is going wrong? Is it my bose amp that is failing? Is it the stock headunit? What do I need to do to fix this, replace the bose amp and interior speakers with aftermarket ones? Replace the headunit (i dont want to do this) .... feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Check all the fuses for the amps and speakers. Also, check that you have not changed the setting to "full right," as in you canceled out your left speakers.

Mine just did the exact same thing yesterday. I tried playing with all the settings and nothing. I got a little pissed off and smacked the passenger side of the CD player area and they came right on. Im pulling my console out this weekend to check for a loose wiring plug. SMACK IT!!

That's a common problem with the Blows HU. There is a writeup on how to fix this issue, but that means taking apart the HU almost completly. It's a faulty data-cable that makes sparingly makes complete contact with one pin that incidentally is the left speaker channel.
IMO, I think its easier to get another HU, the bose system definately is not living up to it's name. In my 93 se, the sound was freaking awsome, its a shame they had to cheap out like that in the later gens.

I just do the "Fonzie" tap on the side of the HU, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

yeah... the same thing happens to my '04 SL with the Bose setup....... and the same goes for my friend's Murano SUV with Bose. Left speaker(s) does not work when playing CDs, although sometimes it does work.

I'll live with it for now...

Interesting that this has come up. I've noticed that my let side is weaker or maybe even cutting out once in a while. If it goes all the way, I definitely won't be taking the HU apart. Guess I better start researching the aftermarket head units.

This time I'll get something that can play MP3s. That was my biggest disappointment with my 05 SE. It will be a bummer to lose the steering wheel controls though. I use that all the time, love the steering wheel stereo control!

You can def. keep the steering wheel controls. You have to buy an adapter (I forget what the name of it is, it's like $75) and you can intall it with the aftermarket HU. I love the steeringwheel controls too. I am sure someone here can tell you what the name of it is.

BTW: Get and Eclipse AVN series, that is the hotness

That would be worth $75 to me. Nice. Eclipse is good stuff, do you have a particular model you are recommending? Eventually like to get a couple of monitors in the headrests.

My buddy has the above system in his Infiniti, it's sick...

That is what my next purchase is going to be.

BTW, the steering wheel control module is only $55

Eclipse is expensive, but worth the money IMO. You get DVD, satelite recieving, GPS, bluetooth (I think) and many more....

I don't know if you can buy one online. Curious why you would want another stock CD player. It's probably going to cost you more that a really good aftermarket stereo and didn't this one just break?

Just get one that plays mp3, I've got disks with more that 150 songs on them, that's way more than 6discs can hold for our car stereos. BTW, my left side gone now too confirmed that this morning. I guess the hunt is on for a new HU. MP3, and Ipod inputs etc.. Good luck Kane

Oh one idea, check the 6th gen classifieds I know on guy there was parting out a whole car, maybe he still has the stereo.

Hey, any idea where the write up on this fix is? I cant seem to find it anywhere. Also, are you guys sure that my left speakers are not working due to my headunit being defective? Anyone think that it may be a defect in the stock bose amp? I want to fix this and I DO NOT want to get an after market radio.

So I finally banged on my dashboard around the CD player area on the right spot which immediately turned back the left side speakers on. Obviously there is something loose inside the headunit with wiring. Someone posted in this post instructions on how to open up the headunit and fix the loose wire but it applies to the 5th gen maxima bose headunit. Does anyone know how to permanently fix this what ever wire is loose in the 2004 maxima bose stock headunit??? I dont want to bang on this thing every day

When I had my 02 Max SE with Bose it had the same problem. New head unit was installed under warranty.

They wont install a new one in mine under warranty since I added a subwoofer to my stock setup.

I hit some railroad tracks a little to hard and the speakers on the left side came back! But I would also like to see the fix. I'm not ready to upgrade the rest of the stereo yet.

Come on, it cant be that much different than the write-up. The problem is a data-cable deep in the heart of the HU. One of the pins is not shaped/making contact properly, so you have to take it off, put it back about 3/4 of the way, then tape it so it stays. Note, this is a band-aid fix This will not last forever, you will have to get a new HU one day if you never want a cut-out again. I am sure that some procedure is different in taking apart the 04 one, but the principle is the same.

Does anyone know exactly how much a new OEM Bose headunit costs at the dealer? And please do not just tell me that I should replace it with a aftermarket Headunit, I am well aware of all my options.

You're better off going to a junkyard if you want OEM. Unless, you want a brand-new, $800 (at least, but every dealer is different) OEM POS.
