Side view mirror knocked off
Side view mirror knocked off
I just got out of class and my driver side mirror was hanging off the door. The power still works because I can still move the mirror, but I'm wondering if it is something that snaps on that I can just re-attach. Or is it something that breaks off that I have to have replaced?
Same thing happened to me last month when I backed up in a parking garage and clipped a concrete column. There is no easy fix. The side-view mirror comes as a complete unit including all the electricals. It only takes 2 minutes to remove the old one and install the new one but the unit itself costs +/- $400

I don't have pics because I don't have a camera.
All in all you just have to close your mirrors each time u get out these things are just to expensive. It is ridiculous that I had a lady on my block that had a 2004-06 max and the majority of the time she got out and left her mirrors open and the sad thing was she had the optional power folding mirrors and still left them open. Now how lazy is that.

Well, my finger does it automatically right before pulling the key out.
Pretty sure it can be wired for auto-fold. I'll ask next time I pass by the alarm place. I am 99.9% sure it can be done with remote-starter kind of setup. When I was getting my remote starter I asked the guy if it can be set to close windows when I lock up. He said of course for extra $$$ so I said yes, do it, only to find out that he ment front windows only. So I said I don't need those that much, its the ones in the rear that I leave open and forget, he says...for extra $$$ we can make those close too. By the time I would be done the price would have gone from like $160 to close to $360 so I guess for another couple of $$$ you can have the windows close and mirrors fold. We are expecting at this point so maybe when I find out how much things cost in the baby-land I'll go back and get these things done.
something i noticed ..... was backing up into a parking slot and i hit the edge of my right side mirror..... it automatically folded!!!!!!! just the right side!!! (the side i hit)
I dont know how.... but i could swear ..... my car moved forward to allow the mirror to fold...... (was not drinking!!!!!!! and neither the car....) i cant explain it otherwise!!!

that why i park next to "higher class" cars. Plz refer to my rules for details:
1) dont ever park near a Civics 88-94.
2)dont ever park near two door cars.
3) dont ever park near some noob that has done a sh1ty parking job.
4) dont ever park near civics that have a big muffler.
GOOD LUCK FIXING IT

Bottom line...don't ever park....just keep driving!
Sorry I had to have a LOL re above!...I know it's a bummer so next time fold you mirrors if you're not sure....I like to fold mine when I park on busy streets due to the bikes.
Cheer up! It can be fixed!

I park out of the way, that way I don't worry about dents or dings, and certainly not the mirrors.
Parking between cars, my mirrors wouldn't be my only concerns. I'm disgusted by the lack of carefulness by people, letting their doors hit ours.
