How much should I offer for this max?

I'm looking at a 95 SE tomorrow, and as long as it's in GOOD shape (which is how the owner described it), I'll be puting in an offer. It's a 5 speed with 94,000 miles. The starter was replaced by nissan last week, who also checked the car out and said no other maintenance was required (the current owners were willing to put it in a new clutch if it was getting close to that time). In terms of options, it's got ABS, BOSE and a Sunroof (the main 3 things I was looking for, aside from a 5 speed)...Only thing I wanted that it doesn't have is leather seats (tan cloth instead). It's dark green, and they recently got a $500 tint job with a lifetime garuntee. They're asking $9600 for the car, but said that they are definitely willing to negociate. I was thinking it's worth more like $8500...Any Opinions? Thanks

Good Luck
Bose? Are you sure you really want Bose? Be afraid...very afraid!!! Definitely use the search function or go to some of the other forums at this site and read up on Bose. It often sounds good, but if something goes wrong or you want more sound you will pay the consequences. Just thought I would throw that warning out to you. Good luck though.
I'd run a carfax report if possible, and also ask them for the paperwork from the latest inspection (as well as any other service papers available). I got my 95 SE 5-speed with all the options (wood kit, gold kit, bose, sun/moon, leather, etc), new tires, with 84k for $11k, which was a tad too high...I was thinking more like $10,5, but the interior on mine was very clean and the outside in good condition. Maybe you can judge a little off that...sounds good, I'd say $8,750ish would be a good deal.
Ask them what work they've done on the car (new shocks, replace O2 sensor yet, CV boots/joints, things like that)...also, find out how old/good the tires are and go from there.
BTW, the bose system can be a nightmare when it gets older. I still don't know what to do with mine, since I want to put my hu and sub in...(adapter, or start all over with aftermarket? Hrm.)

Yeah, I'm trying to get a car as soon as possible(school starts back up next week and I won't have much time for anything else), and this seems like a pretty good deal to me. I ran a carfax report and it turned up clean...I'm going to check it out tomorrow. Is there anything in particular I should check the engine for? The only thing I've heard about going bad around this mileage is the starter, which they just got replaced. As for BOSE, yeah, I know the horror stories, and I'm planning on upgrading the headunit anyways and adding at least one 12"...If I feel the need to change the speakers, I have pretty good hookups on installation and parts. If i can get a good price on the car, I may get a leather kit for the interior too...

I had a blown rear speaker and was going to replace it. Once I finally got it out I noticed that it was a refurbished...meaning that it had been blown before. This pointed most likely to the headunit. I just got disgusted and ended up getting a whole new system. Anywho, just thought I would share my experience with you. Good luck on getting a car.

I was under the impression that aftermarket HUs worked fine with the bose speakers once an adapter was installed. If not, I'll just save up enough to get an HU and some nice components at the same time.
