Our new dedicated server is 90% ready for us to use now. All of the files have been imported to the new site and it really screams. However, the forums are the last item to be moved over, largely because everyone's using them!

So, I'm throwing this out to you, the participants in the forums -- when would YOU like the move to take place?

The move will take me about a day to ensure that everything's running correctly, that all of the data is in tact, etc. That'll give us time to check things out and make sure the system is running in tip-top shape before we open it back up.

What day is good for you all?

P.S. -- Don't ever say I'm not accomodating.

Jambo, thanks for being so accommodating. However, I say just pick a day, announce it a week in advance, and then just do it. Weekday, weekend, it doesn't matter. After all, when it's done, we'll be lightening fast so that's worth it.

I would think weekends would be the best. Maybe a Sunday in the near future. Besides, Football starts soon, and we all should be watching that!

We use YOUR stuff. I think a notice given for a specific day of your choosing will be fine. I prefer weekends...but hey I am an end user.

What about this Sunday?

Take it down like late Saturday night like 12pm-2am Sunday morning. Everybody will be at a meet on Sunday or watching football NFL!

Do it RIGHT NOW!

Seriously, the sooner the better. We need this upgrade desperately and the sooner you can get it in the better, IMO.

w/o reading the whole thread i say just throw a day at us and we'll live with it. a sunday would probably be your best bet being it's most likely the lowest traffic day.

Any Sunday is good. The site is real slow those days.

I say do it now! It's about damn time you guys get a new server. This forum has so much on it that it slows down way to much, even when using a DSL line. The sooner you take it down, the better. Doesn't matter if it's a weekend or weekday since the end product will be a lot faster server for use to work on. Thanks.

Oh, and in case you can't figure out how to 'click the link'

The Maxima.org site will be down on Sunday, September 16th from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. for a server upgrade. There will only be sporadic accessibility during this time. All forums will be offline during the outage.

In addition, the new server requires a DNS change, so access to the site may be inconsistent at times as the domain name is re-pointed to the new server. Please be aware of this change.

We thank you for your patience and hope that you will enjoy the new performance of this server.
