Just drove a 2K2 Maxima.........
It was a fully loaded Majestic Blue auto with tan interior, no navigation. They just got the shipment in, it had 5 miles on the odometer, the salesman insisted that I floor it even though I felt kind of guilty at first. Once I did, I was beyond impressed, absolute power, it just pulls so great at all speeds. That wasnt even the biggest surprise, when I took a good look at the interior (especially at the leather), I was almost amazed at how great and rich it looked and felt, looks right on par with the TL leather( Which is a complement in my book), if not perhaps closer to BMW quality. The gated shift **** and the rest of interior look incredibly classy. The HID was also very nice and in my opinion looked stronger than the I30/QX4 HID. The new headlights and fogs look great, I dont see a problem with the tails like everyone else does, I like the older 17's better but these are also fine.
I'm going back to testdrive a 3.5SE Altima Silver, Black leather, everything except Sunroof and Xenon's tomorrow. So far I have to say that the Altima is very, very nice looking on the outside but the Maxima interior completely blows it out of the water with no cheap look/feel at all. No 5 spd Alty's or 6 spd Max's out yet unfortunately so the auto will have to do.
Bottom line, a gourgeous fully loaded 2K2 Maxima without Navigation can be had for $29.5K which is exactly what a 3.5 SE Altima with every single factory option will run you. So for my money I would take the Max.
