Ok. Here is the break down. According to JL the greatest sub ever produced. Funny how they didn't have a working demo for us to hear.
Anyway: Monster sub, the one was displayed is 12W7. Excellent build quality. The engineers really outdid themselves on this one. Extremely light weight suspension setup and cone. Very strong foam surround with unique design which gives you a lot more cone area without sacrificing x-max. The most linear suspension ever built. Distortion that barely reaches 12% at 1000 watts. This sub is amazing. Inaudible distortion up to 700-800 watts. This sub will blow your mind. We had a comparison of voice coils, spiders and other parts from W3 and W7 series. W7 voice coil is much larger and yet is much lighter, this gives better transient response and ensures linear travel of the voice coil. Spider is a monster. The spider from a 15W3 looked like a midget compared to 12W7. Very unique assembly system with no error in suspension alignment. extremely well ventilated voice coil setup with a space between basket and the magnet to further improve cooling. Cone that is one of the lightest and strongest on the market. It wont bend or deform unlike aluminim/titanium cones. Guys, I'm totally excited about this sub. I wish these were out before I bought my A/D/S. Baffle is a minimum of 1" thick mdf. Dual 3/4" is highly recommended. This sub definately has the ***** to be one of the best subwoofers ever built. It actually has significant improvement in speaker technology. This will be an excellent sq woofer with spl gian and no sq loss as more power is applied. Its as simple as that. Email me if you have anymore questions. There will not be a lot of these available as JL will only be able to make 1500 of these bad boys per month. My shop will carry these as well so if youre in Los Angeles drop me a line but I don't want to turn this into an advertisement. This sub will be the greatest ever! I'm dying to hear it as soon as it gets to the shop.

But, is it any better than the new JBL GTI? It's funny that the motor systems look so similar but JBL's have been selling a few months already. It just shows how difficult it is to have a unique product in this market. All the questions Micah and Turd have are answered on the JL website. I'm glad to hear that they are not neglecting sound quality in favor of sound quantity. But I still want to know how they expect a cone to excur 20+ mm at say 35 Hz and have as good or beter sound quality as a cone which only excurs 12mm in the same time. These new drivers have to be much higher quality motor systems to have similar sound quality.

Retail wise on the JL W7's:

10W7's $550.00 each
12W7's $750.00 each
13W7's $950.00 each (not a typo, yes it is a 13" sub)

Our order should be here on Sept 14th per JL...cross your fingers...

13" subs...never heard of em

and for $200 more then the 12" sub wouldn't it be a pretty big ripoff?
