I am looking for leather interior for my maxima, but I have a tan cloth interior. I really don't like tan that much, so I am wondering if I was to put black leather seats, black floor mats and black door inserts on it, would that look good? The door panels, dash board, ceiling and rear deck would still be tan. Has anyone put black leather onto their tan interior? Has anyone seen this done before?

What do you guys think, would it look good or stupid? I REALLY want black leather

 

......same exact situation. I say go for it, if I had the $$ and it was next on my mental mod list I would do it today. But since I'm broke and I need exhaust and rotors its gonna have to wait for summer. I gave all the local junkyards and bodyshops my # so they can call me if a wrecked max comes in.

 

I would check up on them again anyhow. I gave mine to different ones before just to find out that even when parts came in nobody called. Usually gets overlooked I guess.

my car is completely black. the leather seats, the dash, everything... i like it especially because of the tinted windows i have on the car... makes the car look even darker and hard to see inside.

 

maybe you can ask someone you know to photoshop you a pic of an interior like that... just a thought, but if you dont know anyone that can do it , id say ,,, go to the junkyard and look for some, and if they look like sh*t , maybe resell them or take them back to the junkyard

 

I am getting suede black inserts in my front seats, in the head rests, in the rear infiniti seats, and in the rear infiniti headrests.. i have all biege leather now

I attached a pic of some of the items i painted black..

I painted this stuff black so far:
Seat belt covers next to the seats
A-pillars
Glove box
Cupholder
Door sills (front and rear)
Door handle cover (where the door handle is and lock)
Little holder on the door panel (to close the door and for i dont know)
fuse cover
little air vents near windshield
little air vents about side vents
window control on door panel (where window switches are)

I am gonna do the steering wheel airbag cover and the passenger side air bag cover soon.. i am trying to have something different.. let me know if you want more pics..

just curious what paint did you use i used an interior paint on the middle air vent above the clock and i was not that pleased... yours looks good i am just worried about chipping...thanks

If you ask me, the way to go is two tone seats. I personally have a tan interior and what I am doing is I'm going to use that color in the dash in the seats as well. Nothing in the car is the same color as the dash and it kinda ****es me off. Leatherseats.com has some good pics of Max's with custom leather. They have a really nice black/tan mixture. They say the labor should take an inexperienced person (but handy with tools) about a full day to take the cloth off your seats and put the leather on. We're only talking about like $600 kids. I would make the inserts in the doors the color of the dash as well as the armrest and inserts in the seats. I am going to do a tan shift boot and a tan center-console-flip-up-thinga-ma-jig. Just my idea. Feel free to use it, there's no patent or anything.

 

if you do that car would look like missmatched. where you found black leather seats? why not try junk yards for beige ones???????

 

i dont get this.. the kid wants black and tan.. everyone says otherwise.

As for how i painted my stuff in my car i used Duplex Vinyl Paint.. like 5-7 light coats and like 2-3 coats of a clear coat.. there is some scratching on the glove box and the door sills.. i was told the other day there is this spray paint you can buy online that is like 16$ a can.. but it works like a dye.. ill get back to you.

 

I love black leather interior, but if your interior is already tan, I would say stick with it and get a tan leather interior. Or, go to www.leatherseats.com and get the black leather with beige inserts down the middle.

 

Well, the stock dash trim is black... (just the area around the stereo, shifter, gauges etc) and the dashboard, steering wheel, shifter, everything else is tan, there dash and the door panels are slightly different colors. I've seen 2 tone leather seats, and 2 tone dash/interior... dash would be a different color then the seats.. so it might not be that bad.

I thought it might look kind of cool in 2 tones....

thebigsadler, I really rather not have a 2 tone interior like that, but I was thinking it might be a good thing like you said. original BTW, i can't see those pics, all i see is red x's.

My initial plan was for the leatherseats.com two tone seats but I never expected to be so strapped on cash, especially buying my max for more then I even had (in debt). So I am thinking of used black leather from a junkyard or a private seller for around 250$. pics will be up ofcourse.. and i want to see the black with blue as well "Shadow" has something similar, very nice looking. Leatherseats.com have quality stuff, better then factory, very worth the $, too bad I don't have it
