Engine Oil Coolers...Who's got one?
Engine Oil Coolers...Who's got one?
I saw the Hayden 459 oil cooler which is supposed to work on the Maxima at a local Pep Boys for $80. I was wondering who all had them. I know there was a large interest for the transmission cooler, but I'm more interested in the engine oil.
To those that have them, do you notice any differences? I'm hoping the car still feels smooth and all. Lastly, do you still use the stock size oil filters or do you use a different size now?

As with any cooler (trans, eng, air, etc.) there's always the possibility of pressure drop. I did not feel any noticeable difference in driving or engine performance, the only thing I notice is when I ususally check the condition of the oil at X amount of miles it looks alot cleaner than before. Due to this I've extended my oil drain intervals. In the long run it will pay for itself. You can check my webpage for a few pics.

I ordered a oil filter adapter from http://www.cantonracing.com/ (203) 481-9460. This adaptor sandwich between the oil filter and filter base which lowers the filter about two inches. I had to get all my lines and cooler from else where which was more than the kit you saw at PepBoys. I've had mine in for almost two years and no complaint, the one thing I'm in the process of doing is installing a oil pressure gauge to make sure the pressure within specs. But after two years it's kinda late, you think
