Ram Air

Some people incorrectly think that having a long tube fed by a kn filter means ram air. Technically a ram air is one that would have some sort of scoop, or something that force feeds the air, usu getting more forceful as speed increases. In essence, the stock unit has a scoop in the front of the engine bay that functions in this way, only if it were true ram air, it would feed strait to the tb. I'm not sure if anyone really has one, but if you wanted to construct one, the est place to start would be with a place racing cai, or similar tube, and then find a way to entend the tube to the front valence, or better yet, into one of the stock fog holes, if you don't have fogs. The trick would be trying to find a way to either put the filter in this spot, or better yet to fit it inline. Water would be a problem though, so this might be good for a race only set up. If you attempt it, aem sells a valve for their cai for hondas and stuf that won't allow water in.
There's routing air to the air filter does not make it "ram air". Ram air systems are generall tuned system to give it a "boost" at certain rpm ranges. The only thing you accomplish by routing air is allow it to get fresher air.

I was thinking
about removing the CAI filter hooking up a 90deg elbow with an extension pipe routed out of the fog light hole. And attaching a 4" to 3" plastic reducer to the extenxion pipe. If you take a heat gun and heat the 4" side of the plastic reducer you can widen it and round it out to create an actual ram air situation. I have seen this done on some other cars. I would only use it for the track. I think I would also need to put a screen over the 4" opening to prevent sucking up a rock. I would think that it would be worth some HP for the 1/4.
