I have a 96 max with auto transmission

is there anything i can do about it?
the car is all stock...but it was driven really hard
i got it when it had 20,000

It probubly does this most often in the mourning, correct ? It jerks hard then b/c the tranny has to warm up. Perfectly normal.

Do you feel it also when driving normally, maybe a little less than in the mourning ? Perfectly normal. The fact of the matter is...

YOU'VE GOT A MAXIMA SON! The max has an identity crisis between a sedan and a sports car. The sporty shifting is just one of the crisis points, and a point you should LOVE !!

Get your line pressure checked.

You pretty much have to go to a tranny shop in order to do it.

You could always get Don's Valve Body to soften the shifts up for you

That's not a "bug", It's a "feature."

There are two plugs in the side of the A/T that you have to remove to check line pressures; definately a shop job. You ought to check the dropping resistor; if it is bad or disconnected, you will get very hard shifts. It's a silver rectangular block mounted horizontally on the left (driver's side) strut tower and has a 2-wire connector on it.
