95 max faster than 97 max???

alright my mom has a 95 maxima SE fully loaded and i have a 97 maxima SE fully loaded...b4 i got the 97 i used to drive the 95 all the time...and after gettin the 97 i thought it be nicer and a bit faster maybe cuz it was newer and had about 25K less miles and was mint compared to 95 having gotten into an accident twice...but sumhow the 95 still seems faster on the acceleration..the 97 seems to drag a bit...theyre both autocrapic...the 97 has only exterior mods like lights and stuff and also a K&N filtercharger..however its still slower..if i put new sparks in(which im supposed to have already about 400 miles ago..a lil behind..college started so i aint got time now), will it make it feel less draggin...i aint got $$ to put in mods now..when i get a job ill start that...but in reality, is the 95-96 max faster then 97-99?? if so..then why??

..

95 is the fastest year for 4th gens.
The 95s had less emissions restrictions and i hear they weigh a little less.

That's right baby! The first year is the fastest year for the 4th gen no doubt about it.

Yeah, the 95 feels faster because it is faster.

I raced my friends 95GLE against my 98SE. Both autos. We both get perfect launches, by 60, the 95 is half car ahead. By 90, it's got a car on my 98. Both cars were stock, including the wheels.

You guys are confused. The MAIN reason for 95 being a little faster is the smaller, lighter wheels. True it is also lighter since it has less safety features.

I have a 97 SE 5 speed which is kind of rare because it was a stripper for an SE.

It doesn't have power seats, moonroof, or a few other weight adders that most come with.

It feels very quick, noticably quicker than a friend of ours 97 5 speed SE, that came with every option except Bose.

I am going to run it at the strup in a couple of weeks and I'll post my times.

I've a 96 Max SE with 5 speed and ZERO options.
Does it make my car go faster than you guys with all the luxury options?

A lot of the options add a good amount of weight, like the moonroof, which ofcourse does slow the times somewhat.

While having all of the options is nice, I am glad that mine came without any.

When I go to the strip, I'll put our car on the the scale to see what its true weight is.

He speaketh the Truth

95SE came with 15" rims. 97-99 came with heavier 16" rims. 0-60 times went up half a sec for the 97-99. Why? the rims.

Another new example, VQDriver got a 97GXE and ran some 1/4 miles. His times?? 14.4. Awesome numbers. One of the best, if not best, numbers I've seen on this board. All motor, no SC, no NOS, not even that many mods. His 97 GXE had 15" rims. Nuff said.

Re: Re: He speaketh the Truth

Here's why I think that 95-98s are pretty much the same, it's only the wheels that changed their performance;

http://integra.vtec.net/geeser/megamax/mods.html

Jeff K who was the original megamax got a best of 14.3 on his 95 Max, but that was with slicks. His best on street tires was 14.5. VQdriver just got 14.4 on a 97 gxe on street tires. Note that they all did their best times on 15" rims.

The 95 is faster because it has less emmision restrictions..

don't compare a 97 GXE with a full loaded 95 SE .. obviously the 95 SE is going to weigh more.. my 97 GXE weighs 2830 lbs .. a fully loaded 95 SE is going to way 3000 lbs...

as i said before.. the 95 is faster due to emmisions.. and the first batch of 95's had OBD1 which someone already mentioned and thats why its faster..

They are all basically the same car....I hope this don't turn into 95-96 vs 97-99...cause we know the insecure peeps are gonna start about which ones look better etc etc...

Man O man
Clubsi here we come.....

I personally like em all starting back to the 89....
truth be told my 90 feels more stable than my 4th gen..but each one have things I would change about them...but I still love them equally

OK. OBD1 and weight. 95 Max is the fastest.

So, next time I see a 95 Max fly by me with its cloth seats, standard buttons climate control, no sun-roof, 15" rims, and 60 watt stereo, will I be jealous of its speed?? I'll look around at my car with 17" rims, digital climate control leather seats, sun-roof and Bose stereo and relax. I think not:P

Actually, I could happily live with the cloth seats and the standard climate control.

Actually, I prefer our @sses. I like the M A X I M A spaced out, and the taillights could be better. I like the grille of the '95 best, except for the foglights.

I have a '95 SE, and sister has a '95 GXE. Her's feels a little quicker. Both automagics. Her maxima really is quick. I can't even imagine the speed and torque of a '95 GXE 5spd.

Her's has 170,000 miles on it, and the engine runs nicely. Almost like new. Only major thing wrong was the friggen starters. (they suck).

'95, the fastest Maxima. Period. Driven. Foo's.
