RPM's drop when coming to a stop....DanielB?

Normal driving everything seems cool..but when Im coming to a light and the car is coming to a rolling stop...the RPM"s drop to about 500 for .5 of a sec then bounce back up to normal...you can feel it also...I was wondering what could contribute to this. I ran a ECU diag. and came up with nothing even tho my check engine light is on..the code I came up with was 05 05 no problems detected. I have yet to lotctite my ambient sensor into my CAI i was wondering could that play a role...or maybe a fuel filter? Just wondering if anyone could help..

Thanks in advance

i experience this also. also, lately, i hit the gas, it shifts out of first and into second and it feels like the car is suddenly 1000 times heavier...it hesitates SO bad. i have to push the pedal in harder just to gain some more speed. happens when i shift into 3rd too. funny thing is...it will somewhat subside 5 mins later, but then return to this state again. sometimes i floor it, and it picks up speed VERY slowly...

MAFS?

hi guys - it sounds alot like symptoms i was having a month ago, and it turned out to me my mass air flow sensor. th haynes manual shows you how to test it, but mine tested ok and still was faulty. at first it didn't set of a check engine light, but eventually it did. after replacement i was good to go. good luck.

Re: Re: MAFS?

hi NmexMAX. sorry, but i'm in a bit of a hurry to get to a doctors appointment. for now, the quickest way to test for the mafs is to check your car for the code. check the sticky on ECU codes and if the car gives you the mafs code - replace it. i paid $200 for a rebuilt one from Cardone. used ones can be found for $75 on up at car-part.com. good luck & i'll check back later when i get home.

no no no

Its not the MAF sensor...If DMB was on right now he would give a quick exlanation and i know he has in the past...It is the Idle Air Control Valve that either needs to be cleaned or replaiced....Do a search on the subject and there will be print out of DMB's exlination of the hole problem...Trust me...mine does it but i havent cleaned it yet...does it worse when it is cold out..

I had the exact same problem. When you're driving and you're pressing on the brakes to come to a stop the rpm sometimes drop below 500 and slowly goes back to normal. I've been trying to figure out what it was for six months and I finally figured it out. I cleaned my throttle body and it solved my problem. Buy some trottle body cleaner not carb cleaner. Take off the trottle body and clean it with a toothbrush and wipe it clean with a lint free cloth.
