This really only started since I put on my Stillen Body Kit. The Door seems to be rubbing on the kit along the bottom of the door and not allowing the door to fully close perfect. It closes but doesnt close as good as it was. I am questioning if its actually the kit getting in the way or if its the hinge going and allowing the door to slightly hang a bit, like I have read on here in previos posts.

What have you guys done to fix the hinge problem ??
Does the door have to come off or can this be fixed with the door on ??

I've had that problem for a while but haven't resolved it yet.

 

Mine does it too. I believe it is just the kit because mine didn't start to rub until after the sides went on. Now I have a little scuff mark on on both sides from where it rubs.

 

Im thinking of just grinding down where it is rubbing with a dremel.
The place that I had install it said the pass side was fine with no rubbing but the drivers side ended up being higher then they planned from the tape and the kit.

Open the door and grab it from the latch side and check for play up and down. If there is you need new hinges. I had bad hinges since I bought the car, the stillen kit did rub because of the worn out hinges. If you have good body lines with the door closed and the hinges are ok then grind the side skirts.

BTW just about all 4th gens I have seen need new hinges. I bought new ones for my 98 (expensive as I had a body shop do it). For my sis' 96 I used the pass side ones off my parts 99. They fit fine, so if you go to a junk yard either side is usable. Its a simple job if you have ratcheting wrenches and a buddy to help you.

 

I had the same problem just two weekends ago when installing my ionic dynamic body kit. My driver side door and rear passenger door kept rubbing on the side skirts. I had one of the body guys here on base(patrick afb) hobby shop look it. He told me I would have to adjust the door since i was not lined up properly. Check your door lines with the others if it's not perfectly straight then your doors need to be ajusted. since it would be very hard to loosen the bolts he toke a small piece of two x four and but it inside the door(specifically at the bottom front, it was wedge) then I closed my eyes while he did it cause I was not about to witness this. He slammed the door on the wood twice. Trust me when I say this, the door came up on the rear part that was rubbing the side skirt. He did it to both doors. Now I must tell you he has been doing body work for over 20 years and the hobby shop has the ase blue seal two years running so it's not some fly by night guys. Get a good body shop guy and ask him to adjust your doors for you. This is apparently some old trick. It does work.
