Transmission & Front Axle Shaft Problems
Transmission & Front Axle Shaft Problems
My transmission was recently rebuilt about 6th months ago. Now i have taken it back because it was shifting really hard. They said that transmission went to crap and the front axle shafts were broken. They said that the transmission breaking had to do with the axle shafts breaking. Would this by true, or are they just trying to cover up their mistake? Has this happened to anyone?
Thanks
Thanks
I am positively sure that they wrecked your tranny and I would have the copy of the receipt of where ever you got it fixed then take it to your lawyer and hopefully he will get some money out of them. I know that if your axles are bad and they have lost lots of grease your car would make grinding and grudging noises. It's rare that the axle locks up and so does you tranny and that's if the grease was totally gone and you where beating on it.
Hard shifting is sometimes caused by something breaking inside the tranny and the pieces getting in the way of the internal shifter mechanism.
I don't see how axle problems would cause something to break inside the tranny though. It seems highly unlikely. Fishy, really.

Yes, mainly in that broken peices getting in the shift rails or stuck in the shift mechanism's are irrelevant because you don't have those things, and also if you were a 5-speed a rebuild is the way to go because our 5-speeds suck ball's and chances would be high that the junkyard one would be on it's way out, however auto is a completely different story, re4ofa or whatever it's called tends to hold up pretty good for the most part, and when they do crap out the most common thing that I've seen is the lock-up tourqe convertor locks up at idle and stalls the car. But regardless, that tranny shop should honor there warranty, my advice for the junkyard tranny was if they don't hold there end of the warranty you should take that route. Another suggestion though is if they are really going to try to screw you and you don't want to experience the joy of putting in an auto trannsmission yourself, or don't have access to the workspace and tools required, maybe you could work something out with them and suggest the alternative of them supplying and installing a used one for free, if they really are ****heads than offer to supply the tranny, hell if you were anywhere near me I have a few auto's that I'd give to you for a case of beer
