Key FOB problem, any suggestions?
the past few days my key fob had kicked on me and only works sporadically, I changed the battery a couple weeks ago, anyone else had this problem?
A couple ideals for you to try. Please remove battery before doing this! Take a Q-tip with some rubbing alcohol on it. Run the Q-tip around the buttons so that the alcohol runs around the buttons. Keep pushing the buttons as you do this. This may clean your board under your push buttons to help you get better results. The alcohol will dry up on it's own, or you can use a hairdryer to speed things up. Your next option is to slow start prying around the case. A small flat screw driver will do the trick. try to pry the case apart without breaking it. If you are successful you will be able to lift the circuit board out, and clean it properly. This also works on T.V., Stero, VCR remotes. Good Luck
i had the same problem with gen 6 max i did do the alcohol thing but i took apart the entire fob so i could see the buttons on the pc board and sprayed a tiny bit of contact cleaner in each button then i worked the buttons a little bit and when reassembling the fob i pried the battery contacts up a little so they make better contact with the battery and it seemed to work so far for about 6 months no issues,i hope this helps
Get remote start, ditch original remote. You'll be happy you did. I can start my car from a mile away, and in Chicago it's damn cold right now so I use it to warm up the car before getting in. I can also leave the car running but have the keys with me when making a quick stop, and can remotely turn on rear window defrost.
