Speakers for front doors.

After having my stereo deck, amp and speakers stolen
i was putting in new speakers and i realized, how in the hell
am i supposed to put new speakers in my front doors. I guess i could mount
6x9's to the door panel but wouldn't they work loose?
anyone done anything like installing this?

make some baffles out of MDF. basic idea is to make a wooden baffle that bolts up to the stock mounting points, and then the new speaker is then bolted onto that.

the 3rd gen doors are easy to work with IMO. i had similar mounts made for my 3rd gen.

eh, clipboards....guess that'll work....but i rather have them made outa 3/4" MDF. it'll provide an additional 3/4" of speaker depth. so no worries of the magnet hitting the window when they're rolled down.

i used some boston acoustics 6.5s in the front doors when i was still driving my 3rd gen.

think there is a way to make it for 6x9's or does it have to be 6.5's

6.5s are a way better speaker to put in there.

Down the road if you want to upgrade to components, the work is done for you.

IIRC, MrGone used a dremel and cut up the stock Bose mount and fit a 6.5 in the front. That would be a very cheap way to do it.

I have the ones from ebay:

Those are ok, i mean they do the job if don't have time to work with MDF and make your owns.
I also recommend to go with 6.5". If you can invest in a good set of components you'll get a very good sound. If I'm able to open my door panel this weekend I'll post some pictures for you.

Question

If I were to upgrade to components, where would be a good place to mount the crossovers? Is there a convenient place in the door?

I replaced my whole entire system because I had a problem with the Bose in my '92 SE. I chose to mount my new front speakers on the kick panels right by the driver and passengers's feet. It's much easier to run new speaker wire to the amps in my trunk.
All my other components are in the trunk as well.
